Re: THE FUGITIVE "EVERYBODY GETS HIT IN THE MOUTH SOMETIME" MONDAY 2:00 A.M. EASTERN METV

[ Edited ]

I don't think Gus and Lucia were ever involved - not that she wouldn't have tried. Just don't think he would have been interested because unlike Kimble he already knew the kind of woman she was. Gus was so full of guilt because he had lied to everyone and made them think Lucia's husband was driving when it was really him. He caused her husband's death as he admitted to Kimble when he fell asleep at the wheel. That's enough to give anyone plenty of guilt.

I didn't see Kimble pay the insurance but I know he did because he knew how important it was.

I agree with @chloe4578  about Kimble hitting that brat. I wouldn't say he spanked him because in my mind that involves multiple whacks.

@Tique  I think paying the insurance might have been cut. But I agree with you, he knew it had to be done so he did it even though we didn't see it.

I agree with you, Gus didn't sleep with Lucia.

@Tique

It was implied that they were lovers, if only for one nite.  I do think it was after her husband died tho.  Lucia called him uncle which implied a relationship.  Also Lucia knew that her husband wasn’t driving, when she confronted Gus later in the episode that he would have still have been alive if he was driving.  The only way she would known that Gus was driving is if he admitted it to her,

I do agree that Kimble did pay the insurance for Gus.  In fact, that may be the missing piece as to why it was only 44 minutes long.

Re: THE FUGITIVE "EVERYBODY GETS HIT IN THE MOUTH SOMETIME" MONDAY 2:00 A.M. EASTERN METV

I wondered about that reduced amount of money Gus had at the end also, @Pearlee --  assumed I had missed something...

Ha, ha, you noticed that look Kimble gave about the kids!  And the way he looked "dressed up"--  wondered about that also.... I wondered if staying at that "rooming house" he wanted to get out and may have spruced up for dinner or something...

I have a soft spot for Jack Klugman, both in the previous episode and in this one--  he always seems so beset with problems!   He has an earthy, expressive quality that I find interesting...

@Tique,  you know your Richard Kimble--   he's so responsible in all things, that knowing "how important it was",  he would definitely have paid out that sum...

Well, gang, I'm personally glad to be breaking out of the rather 'dark and drear' sameness of "Season 2 syndrome" of the recent run of episodes.  Looking forward to next week's rather juicy episode, and a couple that come after it, yay!

@chloe4578  it was implied to you. Not me.

Lucia called him "Uncle" for her children. She kept coming to him every time she needed something supposedly for her children. Gus told Kimble some of the recent "needs". In addition to the dental/orthodontist bill there were dance lessons and money for an airline ticket for her son to visit his grandmother. That's where the Uncle came in.

@Tique  It was not implied to me either.  I'm not much for reading things into the scripts that aren't there.

"Even that last ...Maybe that accident never would have happened if he hadn't been so tired. That's what I think. That's what I think at night. I think what would have happened if he hadn't been along with you."

@chloe4578  I went back to listen to the above. To me it doesn't sound like Lucia knew Gus was driving. She specifically said "if he hadn't been so tired" not "if you hadn't been so tired."

I'll stick to my original thought Gus had kept this a secret until he told Kimble just before he died. Hopefully others will chime in on this.

You can check this out yourself at about 21:00 on the YT version.

@Tique. I agree with you.  I never heard Lucia say anything about Gus being the driver. I remember it as you quoted it; that her husband was tired (i.e. her husband  shouldn't have been driving because he had worked too many hours to be driving). She didn't know Gus was driving. And there is also no reason to think she had ever slept with Gus.

You know, it’s rare that I disagree with you.  But I have a right to my opinion and I have no problem expressing my view.  But it’s my opinion...you can take it or leave it.  Sometimes you have to just read between the lines.

Lucia had knowledge of what really happened which Gus didn’t want people to know.  So Gus paid with his life and even then he wanted Kimble to make sure she got the money.  Writers can only cram certain things into an hour show.  The rest is up to the viewer to interpret and that was my interpretation.

Just know that I respect and value your opinions.

Re: THE FUGITIVE "EVERYBODY GETS HIT IN THE MOUTH SOMETIME" MONDAY 2:00 A.M. EASTERN METV

@Tique

I watched both METV and UTube.  There was a conversation between Lucia and Gus I believe was on  METV where she confronted Gus with the details of the accident that only Gus could have told her.   I’m not making it up, I did hear that conversation.  Unfortunately, I didn’t DVR METV

In fact, in his confession to Kimble Gus said that Lucia’s husband wanted to drive and Gus wouldn’t let him, on ME.
