I think it's a try to capitalize on the late  Anthony Bourdaine, who pioneered this kind of show.    Don't know that much about Ramsey.  He's one of the few well known chefs that are not attached to Food Network.  That network as it's own kind highly ranked chef in the person of Bobby Flay.  I have expect them to announce a similar show using that chef.

 

It will probably be successful.  Ramsey connects with the viewers.  One reason he is so popular.
