I've seen the 1997 Titantic and enjoyed it. Better is the 1958?? A Night to Remember. Whenever we're on a cruise and have our "muster", I say a prayer for those who died on that ship. They did not die in vain.

I normally don't care for disaster movies either...especially those based on true events. However, I did watch this one in the theater when it was first released. I haven't watched it since though.
I did enjoy it at the time and loved most everything about it including the costumes, special effects, etc. that other people have already mentioned. My dislikes regarding the movie include: 1) I never thought Leo and Kate had any on screen chemistry. 2) Even though I loved the special effects for the most part, I remember thinking some of them were kind of cheesy and weren't as well done as some of the others. I don't remember which ones as it has been a lot of years since I've seen it.

@ECBG I have seen three versions, one with Barbara Stanwyck, the current one that you partially watched, and another with David Jansen. It was a long time before I watched the current, as I liked the movie with Barbara, but liked the current very much. History fascinates me, and the majority of the movie wasn't about the sinking.

@mousiegirl With all they can do today, plus all the beauty, this isn't one to be missed!

We saw the movie at least 25 years ago. Walk to the theater and a cold and rainy day and as we sat there we felt like we were in the water. It was an excellent movie

For a movie that I never watched, I sure seem to know a lot about it! Lol
When the movie first came out there was so much hype, that I was certain
that it could not live up to it, so I avoided it. Then DD and her friends talked about it so much, that I decided that I knew too much to go see it.
To be honest, I never really had an interest in it.

Love it! Especially the end with the old Rose ❤️

The best movie about the Titanic disaster is the 1958 British film, "A Night to Remember". It is the most historically accurate and is absolutely heartbreaking to watch.
I saw the James Cameron movie only once and for the life of me I can't understand what all the hoopla was about. It was just okay.
