Re: Commercial for St Jude and Amris

Heartbreaking story. However, it inspired me to do a monthly donation when previously I only did twice a year. So these wonderful families willing to share their stores definitely helps to increase necessary revenue to do new research and find cures for these precious children...

Re: Commercial for St Jude and Amris

It chokes me up every single time and, on Roku device, they seem to come on every 5 minutes or so. I am so very thankful that my family has never had to suffer through any of our children having cancer. I just cannot imagine the pain and hope these commercials with these precious babies help with their funding. God bless all children.

Sadly, some children do not make it despite the best care and efforts.  My daughters had two friends that were StJude patients.  One was cured and one died at 16.  Hard for me to even type this.😢😢

St Jude is a BIG deal here in downstate Illinois.  We are now gearing up for our annual StJude day and run.  My youngest daughter is a St Jude runner.  💕💕

August 1 thru 5, there will be a Memphis to Peoria run.  and then in small towns and cities all over the state, teams will run to Peoria and join up on August 5th, at the Peoria Civic Center and then a local tv station will air the St Jude Telethon.  Over $56 million has been raised and donated to St Jude since its inception.

All along the roads in small towns and downtown Peoria people come to cheer and greet the runners.  Mr 4kitties and I will travel along to cheer on our daughter's team.

My middle daughter belonged to a service sorority when in college and they sponsored a floor of St Jude.

Needless to say, we are regular donors to St Jude.💕

Re: Commercial for St Jude and Amris

I had the honor of touring st Jude's many years ago, and have happily donated on a monthly basis ever since.   One aspect to remember, that I don't believe has been mentioned here, is that all research findings are freely shared around the globe with other clinicians.

I totally agree. Amris and her spirit live forever! She does not need a commercial! That commercial does her a great disservice because it starts out so hopeful and then goes to a very dark place with the moody music and the gutwrenching ending. And they play this commercial ALL THE TIME. It discourages me from ever donating to St. Jude, and I know Danny Thomas (the founder) would want a better tribute to Amris that is not about making money.

Re: Commercial for St Jude and Amris

I turn this commercial off. There is no need to use Amris' story to solicit funds for St. Jude. Everyone knows what they do for children and many will still give without showing Amris on TV.

The child's parents have nothing personal to gain by supporting their child's journey being told. It is clear to me that they did it to help other families even though their story did not end as they had hoped. I haven't walked in their shoes. Therefore, I won't judge them or St. Judes.

I donate to St J, but I change the channel when St Jude commercials come on.  I can't stand to see these innocent little children suffer.

I so admire the parents who have to watch their children go thru this.  I don't know if I could.

Re: Commercial for St Jude and Amris

The segments should make you cry but more importantly, prompt you to give. They aren’t commercials as no product is sold, no one is profiting & it’s very difficult for these parents & their children to do these segments. Even if their child did not have a positive outcome, parents are thankful for the extra time their child was given & the expert care ST Jude gave their child & their families, all free of charge

If the commercial makes you uncomfortable, it’s effective.

I think that Amris's commercial is realistic. Some children win the battle against cancer others do not. People have to be aware of all the cancer stories. I do have to say that all of the children in these commercials are truly beautiful.
