@golding76 Wow, that's some nice dinner they took you to! We took our kids there to see Jerry Lewis one year. I remember the hostess putting her hand to her cheek and saying, 'ohhhhh, kids set him in a tizzy!' Exact words, hahaha. Well, my kids love (loved) him and they behaved. I think it was about 2 weeks later that the club burned to the ground. It really shook me up!

Judaline,
My cousin married "very well." Her husband's family owned a very well-known business in downtown Cincinnati (as well as a chunk of the real estate there) until the 1990s or thereabouts.
The Beverly Hills Supper Club burned down about 15 years after I ate there. I can't imagine how horrified you must have been to know that you and your family had been there only two weeks before that horrific tragedy. Too lazy to read up on it now, but wasn't it a matter of lousy escape routes in case of a fire?
You should be proud of your children; they did not unnerve Jerry Lewis. LOL
Now my curiosity has gotten the best of me, and I will probably look up the fire.
CORRECTION: I ate there about 18 years before the disatrous fire.

I looked it up, too, @golding76 . 165 people died. I didn't think it was so many. I saw pictures-one woman in a beautiful evening dress they were trying to revive. It seems impossible that this happened. I think you were right. I kind of remember hearing exit doors were locked tight and they couldn't get them open. They were literally trapped. Horrible.
Looking at your pictures I was wondering who the pretty singer was. A class act for sure. They said the people that night had come to see John Davidson. I have no comment on that.

Judaline,
Could that be Patti Page singing at the club?

Her name crossed my mind. My mom and dad loved her-saw her a few times and got to know her. No idea if they saw her at BH.
Thanks-very informative and brings back memories.

Gosh I was such a huge Barbra Streisand fan! I bought all of her albums and listened to them incessantly back in the day. But she has become a very ornery, mean, cynical person in her old age. Too bad.

I remember watching her sing "Cry Me a River" on the Ed Sullivan show. She was 18 or 19 I think - an electrifying performance. She became a household name after that.
She later married Elliot Gould of MASH.

@ID2 I'm sure none of us know her personally, but she seems to have a good relationship with her son and with her husbands(James Brolin) sons and grandchildren. Of course we all like and dislike different people.
