Really. In the 20+ years I've been purchasing from QVC I could probably count the times I spoken to an operator on one hand. Why would I want to when it's far easier to just punch in some numbers? My laptop is usually on my lap (or by my side) when I'm watching tv anyway. Geez, I haven't even used automated ordering in so long that I've forgotten the number. I actually seldom watch live much anymore either. I just watch the video presentation for whatever I'm interrested in online.

A lot of shoppers, like me, live in rural areas without high-speed internet.  It takes a long time for me to place an order on the computer.  But, I rarely have a problem or have to wait with automated ordering by phone.  It's quick and easy.

I am sure QVC would love to reduce the expense of their order entry and customer service people.  If they make the move to use people overseas, then I am done with QVC.

QVC is a global company with operations in several countries, so of course they are going to emply people overseas.  I see so many negative comments on news stories about companies moving a few hundred jobs overseas.  It seems though that those folks who talk about boycotting or being done with a company don't take into account the number of people that these companies still employ here in the US.  Global companies are always going to be shifting certain jobs to other locations depending on the needs of their business and related costs.  That doesn't mean they are pulling out of or don't still have job openings in the US.

As for the comment about ordering online, virtually every company is trying to funnel to online ordering to reduce costs.  Whether we like it or not, progress demands that companies change their strategies.  I'm certain that way back in the day, the folks who made buggies to be horse drawn were upset about the new fangled auto industry taking their jobs.  Technology is always going to bring about major changes whether we like it or not.
