@missy1 wrote:Also if they are selling say a top. don't cover it with a long jacket and multiple long necklaces.
Viewers want to see how it is by itself. Later on they can accessorize it.
Sometimes I think if they have to cover a top up with so much stuff, then it isn't worth buying. If it can't stand on its own I become a little skeptical....

Makes me wonder if when they do show the inside sooner rather than later, fewer buyers are actually ordering in those first few minutes.
No matter, I'm not ordering just because I like the interior, but I'm also not ordering until I do see the interior. And if it's 3 minutes into the chat before I could see it - they've already lost me because I went to get more coffee or to make my bed, etc. My shopping train of thought doesn't go all that far nowadays.
I know. It's MADDENING. I keep thinking, 'wait! I think she's going to open the bag now so we can see the inside! There she goes!!!! But no, she's just turning it around so we can see the back. Wait! I think now................no, she's showing us the STRAP and how you can make it longer or shorter. (well any idiot knows that). But wait I think............no, she's going over so we can see how to wear a handbag on our shoulder with all all the models. Yeah, it's nice to see how it might look, but I just want to see the inside. Guess she's done. She's going onto the next bag.' And on and on and on. I think I could get an ulcer from all this. I can't watch anymore.

With a handbag, I need measurments. Height and width. Strap length, is it adjustable? Then colors then inside, backside, bottom. Then chat a bit. Then repeat all of the above before you move on incase I tuned in late. Same for clothes. Not interested in what it matches in the other line. The models are showing us that. It's not rocket science it's virtual sales techniques.

A little handful of people writing in large yellow letters and calling customer service really doesn't matter to them. Do you think you have hit upon the correct way of selling? Obviously, you say the items sell out before you can get all the details you need. I guess those thousands of people purchase without the minutiae that you all require.
QVC knows exactly what they are doing. And they are doing it very well.
Just because you don't care for their method, doesn't mean there aren't hundreds of people calling saying please let the hosts talk more about their families. Please let the hosts not waste so much time on showing us the inside of a purse.
You are not always right and you are not the only ones in the world. I look forward to hearing about their children and spouses. I love hearing about their vacations. I definitely want to know if they are just bought a new house. It makes them feel like family to me.
Am I the only one that finds this post kind of sad ? I'll move on - most people watching are looking to buy and for buyers information of the product is the top concern. Host and venders lives arn't, for me it's not that I don't like hearing about it but that's not why I'm watching, after all, it isn't a talk show. Maybe they could put an hour aside a week to fill everyone in on their personel goings on and keep the rest of the the air time for business. IMO asking for all the information of a product up front of the presentation is not out of line if they then want to chit chat about what's going on in their lives fine but poduct info first please.

She must be very lonely. That is sad. And I hate to say this if she needs this kind of thing, but that's really not what shopping channels are for.

YOu may thank Jayne Brown for QVC failure to give sizing information on clothing. SHe decided that it wasn't needed and talked the PTB into dropping the information during presentations. SHe was very proud of that and mentioned it every chance she got. Well all,I can say is that because of that decision I buy very, very few clothing items from QVC anymore. I am not going to boot up my computer to check sizing information on line so I cannot tell you how many sales they have not gotten from me.

I watch ,because ...I am interested in perhaps purchasing the item on air.As others have said I am really not interested in the hosts personal life,I have one of my own.I want information,so I can make a decision whether to buy something or not. When a host goes off on a story ,unrelated to the product,I turn off QVC.I do not mean to sound mean, just realize hosts...we want all the product information,in a timely manner, not a lenghtly story,of what you will be having for lunch!

BUt they are not family or even your friend. They are very well paid sales people schilling a product so that they get money in their pockets. THat is their sole motivation and if making you feel like they are your family or friends to get you to buy from them then they will do whatever it takes.

Fellow Forum Participants -- please don't find my post sad because it was only meant to show the other side of things. When someone writes their post in all caps and uses not one, but two PLEASES, I get the biggest laugh. Then when they write in a different color font, I either think they are still in grade school or they actually think "this will really get them noticed".
Most of you are all too obsessed with hearing immediately the measurements, colors, seeing the inside of the purse, seeing the outside of the purse. QVC maps out the presentations for the host. They are told what to do. Yes, QVC wants you to think of them as family. That's the hook. Unfortunately, you all can't wait to throw your money at them. If you only had all the pertinent information at the very beginning, you could buy, buy, buy. I’m sure QVC has figured out that a lot of people take a bathroom break or coffee refill break and aren’t back for the opening seconds of the presentation. Therefore, they kill a little time with idle chit-chat. Some people like it, some people don’t. But if you are interested in the item on your screen, you will sit through it to see the upcoming product.
They have probably found out the people who use their channel as a form of company, like to hear about what the hosts are doing. Those are the people who most likely spend the most and most likely don’t return the item if it’s not right. The probably pass it on to someone in their family or clubs or possibly a cleaning person or caregiver.
Yes, QVC welcomes suggestions, but they will do what their Marketing Department has put together to make sales. They have educated people studying what is driving sales. You couple of people will not dictate to QVC and I don’t even know why you try.

I have been with QVC for more than 16 years. I am only watching to see if the item presented is something I want to purchase. Hearing personal information does not make me want to buy nor listen.
I do not want to hear any personal information from any host or vendor!! I don't care about their families, their vacations, their religious beliefs, their homes And frankly, I am sure they don't care about mine either!!. They are ONLY sales people trying to make a salel!! Just give me the pertinent information about the product. I immediately click off the channel when the personal stories get going.
And guess what QVC....I don't watch the presentation, chances are I don't purchase...
