@febe1, I agree that the titles are meaningless and, in fact, just cause a wee bit of unrest in many cases. I think the problem with the missing "ignore" feature is related to this new plaform designed by the Lithium web hosting service. I know they host the eBay community forum, and there's no "ignore" feature available there either.

I just got bumped up to "Honored" (which is their highest ranking) and it seems to have happened about the time that I hit 8,000 posts.
Initially the rankings seemed to have been based on the number of hearts that folks received, but I think they're completely eliminated that association based all all the (very well deserved) backlash created by this methodology.
Based on what others have posted in the interim, I'm guessing that they experimented with determining rankings by trying out several different version of posts plus hearts for a while.
When I got bumped up recently, I got curious and did a quick rankings check based the rankings of other posts that i read. -- My very unscientific deduction is that I think the ranking are now solely based on the number of posts that a member has. Below are my general unscientific observations:
* valued -- 500 to 999 posts
* trusted -- 1,000 to 1,999 posts
* respected -- 2,000 to 3,999 posts
* esteemed -- 4,000 to 7,999 posts
* honored -- 8,000 posts
The designations before Valued Contributor are for various types of contributors and new member levels, which sound less special (for lack of a better word). Those also seem to be determined by the number of posts that someone has, but I have no idea of what those levels are.
I've also seen "Senior" and "Visitor" designations but I have no idea what they mean. If I remember correctly something like QVC_Community is for hosts, and QVC Community is for vendors.
About the hearts feature...
I love the hearts feature and heart posts to my hearts content. I'm really glad that, at this point, the hearts no longer seem to have any tie to the ranking system.
That said, I wish that they would just eliminate the ranking system. Since they list the number of posts that each poster has, that information is common knowledge. -- The current ranking system just seems to reaffirm this information which makes it redundant and unnecessary.
At this point, the only purpose of the ranking system serves is to upset some members... and I can't see any good rational for doing this.
I've never been in favor of any sort of ranking system and I'd really like to see it eliminated.

So heart count don't matter then? If it's the amount of posts, then many lost thousands. I lost 30,000 with the change.
@missy1, I know and that's another reason why I think they should just eliminate the ranking system.
While it may not be completely based on post numbers at this point, I think that posts still play the very major role. -- In another forum, someone just mentioned that they got moved up from Super Contributor to Valued Contributor when they reached 500 posts.
I feel really sad for the folks who lost so very many posts. I only lost about 1,000 posts and I ticked about that.

@missy1 and @bebe777, It's not just post numbers, not just hearts. It's a more complex algorithm than that, many factors, and as a result it's relatively meaningless.

@NanaLinda wrote:This is a silly topic to even be discussing! Who cares? I don't even notice the titles and I'll bet a lot of others don't either, or if they do, it doesn't matter to them. Too many other things to worry about...
@NanaLinda, in all fairness I feel pretty sure this isn't the only thing posters are thinking about (I don't really think they're worried), and the Q Team asked us to post suggestions, problems, etc., here. I think that's what this thread is doing, just expressing concerns and ideas.

You are totally entitled to expressing yourself. THANK YOU for posting!!!
Although I actually do NOT see a whole boatload of difference between old/new, I thoroughly enjoy the "new" boards and have come to know some WONDERFUL posters whom I might not have known otherwise.
There is still a certain amount of ignorant snarkiness but usually, most of us know what to expect from their nics and easily overlook their "POV"s with a giggle and a sidestep.
EVEN BETTER, I can sometimes AGREE wth their rare sensible comments by hearting them, and I LOVE that!
Finally, "moderators" are supposed to moderate, and these folks do not O ly that but also offer help with problems associated with all kinds of issues.
I'm not one bit "sorry" to say I "LOVE" (and HEART- lol) our NEW BOARDS!

I'm with you, @icezeus and @violann.
I like all the customizable features of the new platform. Love the hearts, love the "@+nickname" notifications, and I like the moderators' interaction with us.
And I, too, have "met" countless posters who have been here but didn't post in all the sub-forums in the past.
(Part of that is a result of the fact that the old "Viewpoints" sub-forum, and a few others, didn't appear when we used to click on the old "View All Categories," so some long-time posters didn't see the "Viewpoints" threads. Now, everything except "Gamers" shows up in the main "Forums" listing, and I think more posters join in on discussions no matter which sub-forum.)
I wish the moderators would follow through with noticing "troll" patterns, give the offenders a warning after removing a few posts, and then ban them if they continued the practice... they seemed to be doing that at first but now, not so much.
All in all, the Community is much better now than before, in my opinion.

Hi @violann I just checked back and saw your post. A dear friend of mine used the term Madam Queen in such a funny way that I decided to use it. She is Scotts Irish and I love the way it sounds when she says it.

@dooBdoo, really well said. ![]()
And I also wish they would continue to take a more active par with regard to the evident trolling patterns. *s*

@bebe777...I was just promoted to valued contributor. I feel so hnored! 😜😜😜
I had to giggle when I read this post because I got the notification yesterday that I was "promoted" and was about to start a thread to find out what the promotion criteria is.
