If I recall at all correctly, Antonella may suffer asthma.

Amen IG!  It's none of our business, plus I'd bet you anything that if they did come on explaining things the boards would be full of the usual complaints of TMI and we don't need to know everything about the hosts' lives!

@KKJ

You're so right, some sure would!

@MaryLamb   I understand what you mean.  I know you're not saying we need an explanation or any personal details but we certainly understand if a host has to step away to get a sip of water if they are having a coughing fit.  They shouldn't have to suffer through on air.  I could not do their job.  I can think of things that would probably happen if I was a host - sneezing fit, growling stomach, tripping, the list goes on lol!

Got to admit, I read the OP and thought "huh"?

I've seen both hosts and vendors stop to drink a bit of water and clear their throat.

I've seen hosts ask floor staff to fetch water for a vendor.

I've seen a vendor wave his assistant in to camera range to take over.

I've seen hosts take over and do all the talking while the vendor had a coughing fit.

  Seems to work fine already. What new policy is needed?

On a show later last year Shawn became ill (I bet it was GI?) and stepped away. Mari Lyn from Philosophy was the guest and she just kept presenting alone. Shawn came back and said another host was going to take over for her. I didn't even realize she had left. If I were on live TV, I would live in fear of those events.

She was not coughing or anything but did look a little pale. After a few ads the new host came on and continued with Philosophy. Maybe something about 'under the weather' was mentioned.

I remember Jill stepping in for someone and said words to the effect that she was in the middle of curling her hair and got word she had to step in so that was why her hair wasn't at it's best. Looked fine to me.

They are all true and seasoned professionals.

Although she's under no obligation to do so, Antonella has explained on her QVC Facebook page that she was put on some new medication and an adverse reaction kicked in while on TV.

She thanks everyone for their concern and says that she is fine.

@KKJ @IG, I'm guessing even if they explained, some wouldn't believe them or the reason wouldn't be good enough.

Sometimes hosts are so hoarse and coughing they should have another host take over.  They don't seem to do this at times that they should.
