Yes, it's simple to quote. After you hit "reply", you should see "quote" just above the text box on the upper right side of the text box. Click on "quote" & it will populate the text box with the post that you wish to post a reply. Then you can add your reply in the text box below the post

Hi Chi-town girl. No "quote" link appears on my iPad, so I hope they fix it. I almost always quote when I respond to someone.

Well how fortunate for you. Apparently are one of the very few who do!!  Personally,  I  am with the majority who find it a pain.      Cat Mad

Re: I'm Finding This To Be An Easy Transition

I hate to feel so stupid. I can read well, interpret well, and follow instructions well...usually !

But I am having a pathetic time here, my first day on their first day, trying to do the avatar. I can't find that gray image at the top of the left page (avatar) .

I know it's right there in front of me...DO YOU KNOW HOW STUPID THIS MAKES ME FEEL RIGHT NOW ????

@redhead65 "Feeling stupid," I think that's a big part of the frustration right now. Why do you feel stupid? You're in the process of learning something new to you!

Where are you getting stuck regarding avatars? Have you found the "Avatars" page on My Settings? Once you're there, you have a choice of the generic male and female avatars or uploading your own image (or using one you've already uploaded).

To upload your own image:

*Click on Upload an Avatar

*Click on Browse

*Find the image you want to use on your computer

*Click Open

*Click Save

*Place your mouse over the image and select the portion you want to use for your Main Avatar

*Click Save and Continue

*Repeat the above two steps for your Message Thumbnail

Some of this is somewhat explained on the screena, some of it isn't.

It looks like there is a review/approval processs involved at some point and I did manage to poke around and find a screen where I was able to delete the new image I uploaded to document the process (don't ask me how).

Please ask if you are still having problems. I tried to include all the steps without writing a book.

[ Edited ]

I don't care about the hearts, avatars and all the fluff.  Being alble to change font size, style and color adds fun but the posting and finding posts is what a forum is all about.  All the recent posts from the past few weeks seem to have been removed.  These were active discussions.  Stupid posts from April and back were left intact and are not even topics that would matter or have real discussion value.

There also seems to be no way to actually view the posts they didn't remove from our profiles that we made and might want to reference.

The breadcrumbs don't appear for everyone as those grey dots for editing, etc.  I did find out that when the cursor is at a certain spot where the dots probably should be a gray box appears and when clicked on the menu appears.

One person seems to have not encountered any of the issues many are reporting that have nothing to do with  just figuring out things but actual things that do not work for all depending on the device, browser, etc.  We should not have to fit a precise formula to be able to use this forum efficiently.  I had many problems with Chrome on my desktop and it just hasn't worked right for over a year so I don't use it but it does work on my laptop but for some reason other browsers don't seem to be able to be used as long as Chrome is there.  I'm not tech savy and really shouldn't have to be to use this site!!    We don't all have the latest and greatest devices and so many don't do the whole social media thing either.  It should be designed for all to easily use.

You can't use the quote function on the ipad.  I haven't tried from my phone, but don't think you can use it there either.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

Perhaps another grumpy post exists somewhere on these new boards that will answer your question.  When the Q team decides to come out of hiding, maybe they'll know the answer, since these new boards were supposedly custom made to facilitate 'devices'...

Pook, I'd give you a thumbs up on your entire post, but, of course, the thumbs up no longer exists...  Otherwise, you've hit every nail squarely on the head.  It shouldn't have been this complicated...  Such a shame and another missed opportunity.

Re: I'm Finding This To Be An Easy Transition

I'm having an easier time getting around today.  I've played around a bit with settings and learned how to do certain things.  However, it's very frustrating not to be able to find posts that I was participating in.  Viewpoints was one of my favorite places to go, and now it's impossible to find Viewpoints posts because of all the gamers.  One or the other needs their own category.  There are other things that bother me, too, but I can get around.  If some of these things would be tweaked I would be happy with the new forum.  I do like the Avatars.
