Re: HOSTS: PLEASE USE A DICTIONARY...

I agree that it's poor grammar and sounds like nails on a chalkboard.  I don't like it either.  I learned a long time ago that that i can't control other people.  But I can control my reaction to others. I have enough problems of my own that I don't need to worry and fret about things I can't control.

Re: HOSTS: PLEASE USE A DICTIONARY...

I agree with the OP, and I find it sad.  I love our language, and I believe that words have meaning.  But, I also agree that it's a lost cause.  I know many people who have horrendous grammar and pronunciation (and spelling), but I don't consider all of them to be stupid.  I think they just don't care about it as much as I do.  I hope to be long gone by the time this wave works itself into full-blown Orwellian double-speak.

I have always thought that the incorrect word "majorly" came from the phrase: "major league."  IOW, that some people didn't know it was "major league," and substituted what they heard...ie, majorly.  Does anyone know what I mean LOL??

"Incorrect grammar and pronunciation is a major league problem"...not, a "majorly" problem...?  As in "it's a major problem," as opposed to "it's a minor problem????"

Sidebar:  Yes, I know I have a nerve talking since I misuse the ellipsis, and I'll probably hit "submit" and THEN see a spelling error or an apostrophe where none should be...

or ending a sentence with a preposition...

somebody stop me!!!!!!!!!!!!!  ROFLOL!!
