Too many, if not all, of t(e hosts incorrectly say “shipping and handling IS free”.  The correct grammar is “shipping and handling ARE free”. Assuming the hosts have some sort of communications or broadcasting degree, I am surprised they go uncorrected.

The hosts should also be told it is shipping and HANDLING;  not shipping and HANDLE-LING.    Didn't they go to school and learn any grammar??????

@CamdenCatThis example isn't grammar- it's more about a regional dialect.

Something that drives me crazy is when people (including these blogs) use the 2 words (a lot) as one word (alot).  There is no such word as alot unless you're talking about an allotment.  I found that happens in business also.

Shipping and handling is a single process, making shipping and handling a collective noun.

Here come the arguments..lol

I JUST THINK THEY, THE HOSTS, NEED TO LEARN HOW TO SPEAK. SIMPLE, LOGICAL, YOU ARE ON NATIONWIDE TV LADIES.  GRAMMAR, PRONUNCIATION, WORD CHOICE, JUST ALL OF IT IS DREADFUL.
