Cooking with David and Mary shows

David's show is getting boring, he does and says the same things over and over again and shows the same items over and over again.  I think it is time for a change with hosts for the cooking show.  On top of that, now they have Mary up there pretending to be David, using his sayings and gestures.  She has really got to go.  She is phoney and I don't believe a word she says, poor communication with people.  It is time for QVC to get some new people to replace them, I hardly ever watch them anymore and I use to love the show and buy plenty of kitchen items.  Sadly to say, the only way this show will improve is to get rid of them.

Re: Cooking with David and Mary shows

On the Sunday show, he seems bored in several of the presentations that he's done so many times in the past.  He seems to be thinking "I can't believe I have to present this again".   Time to change things up and refresh the show - shorter in length with different hosts.  Why not vary the hosts once in awhile?  He could continue the mid-week kitchen show but give him a chance to present other products.

No, David is a good host. Polite to callers even though most of them are coming out of left field. He's considerate to first timers who come on and talk about their product. He knows they're nervous , etc. He doesn't pose for the camera like some other male hosts do. He points out issues that some leave out due to time constraints or just being nervous.

He 's considerate of older folks when they come on to plug cookbooks, etc.

Respects people. Happy face twirl around is just meant to show how he likes to eat and takes good things seriously. I don't get my panties in a bunch about it. Can I do without it ? Yes, but, it's not gonna ruin my day or nothing.

Mary, is OK. Fresh face among the older female hosts.

Re: Cooking with David and Mary shows

I've never watched the cooking shows, but I have read on the forums that sales from these shows was down.  Maybe I misunderstood because I was surprised to see they seem to have now expanded the # of cooking shows.

Don't you think it's somewhat like other shows that last for many seasons, but then it's time to bring it to an end and start something new.  QVC seems to expect the same show to last forever.

The show can be a bit boring because they show the same old stuff. Sometimes there will be something new. I think David and Mary are both pretty good. At least they talk in compete sentences and don't umm and ahh all the time.

I don't know this for sure, because I'm not privy to their sales records, but I'm guessing that David really moves the merchandise. Otherwise why would they always include the TSV in his cooking shows, even if it is a reach?  Mary is pleasant, professional and seems well liked by the OAPS and the audience. Why would they change what obviously works.

Re: Cooking with David and Mary shows

Maybe it's just me, but criticizing a show host because QVC continues to want the same tired old no-bargain merchandise flogged to death is kinda the D word.

The hosts present and sell what QVC gives them to present and sell. They don't tell QVC what they will and won't present, or get to come up with their own "finds."

It's just another "clever" <snork> way of dissing a host.

Methinks someone is just switching personae and tactics.

They are both good hosts. I prefer Mary though. David seems bored. Same products. Maybe the Q should try a new format for the show.

[ Edited ]

I use to like David's presentation style a lot. He made me want to watch. However, I do agree with the others who mentioned he seems to be quite bored. I noticed this last Fall, and was quite taken aback as I thought Fall thru Jan1 was their BIG holiday season. What struck me most though, was how boring the merchandise was! I do not remember seeing much that was fresh or new! I can only take so much of laptops (have it), tablets (have it), prepared food (do NOT want it...we cook!), and Bose stereo (no need for it). *snore* The tupperware whatever lock system? Uhm, nice, but??? Snore festy. KitchenAid ...yup, got it. Vitamix...I have two!! The cool mist humidifier...I have it, hate it, and never use it....too hard to clean and fill, as you need filtered water and the tank is huge! Pressure cooker...I have a very nice one already. Fireplace looking space heater.....uhm, I want this for my mom, but she has a space heater already. Lol

Sooooooooo......not much NEW that I need!

Oh! I did buy the Kevin O'leary case of varietal wine as xmas gifts, and they are REALLY delicious *yes, we kept one of each for ourselves*

What else?

Total Body Gym...yup, got it! And love it!

Body Blade....got it and lovvvvvvve it so so much!!

Marie Osmond fitness thingy...yup, got that. It is good for my mom. Smiley Happy  And I actually take it while traveling.

Wrist blood ppressure monitor....got it for my mom, and one for hubby and me.

Temptations.....omg.....bought a lot, am tired of the old world and floral lace overkill, and WISH she would bring back Verona and Poppy Collections! And add in some sophisticated, solid, embossed casserole bakers!

Not much from David's show, Carolyn & Dan's show, and most of the Beauty & Hair segments that I do not already have (but at least beauty and hair adds new products!!).

I really cannot blame David for seeming bored.

I would be, too! The products seem repetitive, boring, uninspired, stale.

Then again, I think David should be thankful for having such a well paying, cushy job.

If he ever feels he is bored with his, he should trade places for a week with the average Joe or Johanna out there, trying to make it paycheck to paycheck!

Despite the boring offerings, I think David needs to maybe get together with the qvc execs and discuss bringing in some NEW PRODUCTS to get everyone excited....including himself and customers. Smiley Wink I used to love his happy dances, but now they seem so forced. Worst of all, he sometimes seems a bit annoyed. Not good when you are in sales. We own our own business and we would not be happy with an unenthusiastic sales rep. You have to put your game face on in this business.

As for Mary?

I love her! I think she seems very genuine, and would probably love to have David's job. She seems appreciative and energetic. She seems very approachable. Not phoney at all, imho!

And Carolyn and Dan?

I love them, too. Regardless of what they are showing, they seem excited and I love how humorous they are. They are fun to watch. And I love her pet segments! I can relate to her. I feel comfy and cozy with them...relaxed. And I feel as though they truly do like and stand behind the products they show. I trust them. I am not so sure I trust what David shows anymore. His sales pitches seem overly forced. There have been a few low carb cookbooks that he has raved about, that upon closer inspection, I found to be truly unhealthy! They were loaded with artificial sweetners. That is not healthy in my opinion. Either he does not know much about nutrition and healthy paleo diets, or he does not care and just wants to sell sell sell. Either way, I have been a bit put off by his Sunday shows. I do still dvr them, but now I fastforward through to see if anything catches my eye. Not much lately. And I do not even bother to record the Wed airings anymore.

All in all, I just feel David's sales delivery is tired and maybe in a rut, but I do not fault him entirely. I feel qvc needs to do a better job at bringing in new brands, new products, etc. And watching an hour's worth of ORANGES does not excite me either. Lol I am sure they are delicious and all, but airing it for an hour????
