Re: s wasRe: Week Two of the 2023 NFL Regular Season!!!

Nick Chubb is anticipated to have torn multiple ligaments in his leg and will be out for the season. He will have imaging tests Tuesday, but it looks bad.

The defenses last night were outstanding. Everyone talks about the Cowboys defense; the Steelers say "not so fast." TJ Watt is proving to be competition for Micah Parsons. Highsmith also had a good game. The Browns weren't exactly slackers, either.

Re: Week Two of the 2023 NFL Regular Season!!!

Two weeks down, fifteen to go! What have we learned so far? Not a lot. The Cowboys, Niners, and Ravens are off to the hottest start. They're scoring a lot while giving up just a little. The Giants will be interesting to watch on Thursday night. They were shut out for the first six quarters of the season then surged ahead to win on Sunday. Did they surge ahead to win because the Cards remembered they were trying to tank? Or did they shake off whatever malaise they had? They've got the Niners at San Fran on Thursday which given the way things have gone, could be a massacre favoring the Niners. The Niners won't roll over and play dead in the second half. Saquon Barkley being out for the next three weeks or so won't help the Giants any.

Injuries are piling up quickly. That's good news for the guys on practice squads. They're going to be in demand as the season goes on. The Eagles have had more injuries already this year than they had all of last season.

The rookie QBs are more or less looking like rookie QBs now that they're seeing real defenses. More and more teams are going into the 3/8 style of defense where they have three down linemen and eight defenders (a mix of linebackers and DBs) on the field and dropping back into coverage. Quarterbacks are dropping back and seeing a sea of defenders everywhere. It reminds me of elementary school where we'd let as many kids play on each team as wanted to. There would be times there were forty kids or more on the field at once.

Things are setting up nicely for a week five showdown between the likely undefeated Niners and the likely undefeated Cowboys. Both had/have relatively easy schedules until then. That should be a fun game to watch.

Whatever was wrong with Russell Wilson last year, doesn't look like it got fixed. (He does look a bit better than last year though.) The same for DeShaun Watson. Both teams are largely stuck with those guys due to their contracts. At least the Browns have a competent kid in Dorian Thompson-Robinson they could move into the starting role if things get too bad. Do you pay Watson $200+ million as the backup? They can't cut him. I don't think a lot of teams would line up to trade for him.

The Joe Burrow calf injury is starting to feel troublesome. He first injured it early in camp then sat out and rehabbed. Now it's hurt again. Will he miss games? And if so, how many? They're already two games back of the Ravens. They've got some winnable games on the immediate schedule (Rams, Titans, Cards, Seahawks) but then things get messy with the Niners and Bills.

Nick Chubb blowing out his knee is not good for him or the Browns. If you look at the Browns' schedule, you get to November fifth against the Cards before you find a game they'll probably win. And who knows what the Cards will be doing by then. They've got the Titans, Ravens, and Niners up next. I don't see them beating the Ravens or Niners. They might have a shot against the Titans. Then the Colts and Seahawks before the Cards. The Colts are getting better each week. The Seahawks aren't a bad team. That game against the Cards could be for a high draft slot in the spring.

At this moment I'd have to say the Browns will be drafting in the top ten and probably the top five. The Texans and Cards seem to be fighting for that first overall slot though the Texans traded their pick to the Cards so, whatever. The Bears are putting up a good early-season fight for that spot also. The Broncos are likely a top-ten pick team also. If you've got Russell Wilson and his contract, or Deshaun Watson and his contract, do you draft a kid QB at one? Eh. Tricky.

On to week three!

Fly!!! Eagles!!! Fly!!!

Re: Week Two of the 2023 NFL Regular Season!!!

@Spurt - **sigh** - so sick of hearing about these fans already.  I just wish they'd start losing alot of games!  I'm getting emails all the time from especially the one manager down in Texas about his Cowboys and how they're going to win the division and go to the 'Bowl!  I'm at the point I am no longer responding as I'm sick of it!

I'm really hoping my Eagles improve as if we lose to the Cowboys, heaven help me!!  lol

I'm not sure I know who Diana Rocco is - not sure if she was there before I moved last year, as I'm drawing a blank on her.  Anyway, good for her!  Between her and Jeannette, they can go after David!  lol

I'm so sad about Nick Chubb.

This season looked uber promising for the Browns. It seemed they had every piece of the puzzle finally in place, especially after they replaced Cade York and also got a new defensive coach, and got Watson for the full season after his eleven game suspension last year.

Honestly, after last night's game, I'm heartbroken. Watson looked less than impressive, especially since in the first nine seconds of the game he threw a pick six. Not a good way to start against a bitter rival. Now Nick Chubb's injury. sigh

It really is hard being a Brown's fan. If anyone has any encouraging words for me, now would be a good time

Im so very very sorry to hear about Nick Chubb's injury!!!  Yes, its been difficult for all of you loyal Brown's fans over all these years. On behalf of all Washington fans we wish the BROWNS the best in future days ahead!!!  Washington fans can certainly empathize and sympathize as we endured our scumbag owner Dan Snyder for 24 yrs!!! And much like Washington, the Browns have had a turnstile at the QB spot......keep the faith, and perhaps one day your team too will get new intelligent owners that can put a staff together to make the Browns a winner!!!  With Snyder gone we now have hope for our team and we have the same hope that one day it will happen for the Browns too..STAY LOYAL, STAY STRONG, KEEP THE FAITH!!!  Look what happened to the NBA Cavaliers in 2016!!!

Re: Week Two of the 2023 NFL Regular Season!!!

@Spurt - I looked up Diana and yeah, she's just not familiar to me.  I didn't move back home to PA until August of last year.  Guess I'm losing my mind!  If she's on early in the morning, that's probably why I didn't see her.

I was laughing so hard at what you posted about the Cowboys!  LOL!  Love it and will have to pass it on to my managers for sure!  I'm going to copy/paste that to my email and send to my work email to send to them tomorrow when I have a few minutes.

Although I wouldn't say my team is unstoppable as I'm not impressed with them thus far and they're getting some not so great comments from our local Philly stations either when sports is done.  I do wish we had a true Don Harris here as I'd love to hear his comments if he worked up here!  lol

I saw on the news tonight that a fan died at the Patriots game.  There was an argument and then the one guy punched this guy in the head and down he went.  They did CPR on him but he didn't make it so not sure if the other guy will be charged with something.  How sad is it that the fans can't even behave at a game!  Just horrible!

@Ladybug724 , I totally get it! I was born and raised in Ohio, the Dayton area to be specific. Nothing but Bengals fans down there! My family and my DH's family have been Brown's fans for forever. Even though I live in North Carolina now, I still root for them. I'm heartbroken 💔 about Nick Chubb. 😞

I also root for the Arizona Cardinals, as I met one of their rookies this past summer and he's a great guy. I'm a glutton for punishment! 😆

Keeping the faith!

@PARedbird

Glad you liked the MEME....I thought it was a good one, hope the Boyz fans enjoy it....Woman LOL

Yep, Diana is on the 4:30 AM gig with David Chancellor and Jeannette Calle the Eagles fan....

Speaking of Don Harris, you might be interested in watching his Podcast on You Tube called SNEAKERS & CLEATS......theres video not just sound..(just type that title in the You Tube search bar and you'll see their broadcast listed)...but the down side is he has a co-host Chuck Miketinac ....he does the sports on WOAI's sister channel The CW.....Chuck never made it big in broadcasting nor to the main big broadcast channels and you can tell why LOL....I just never cared for Chuck....and he is a Cowboy homer and does a lot of high school stuff....but Don brings his realistic view....Matt Roy is the host hes fine.he's from California, went to college in AZ, and previously worked in Illinois)..Anyway, this is an option for you to hear what Don has to say!!!

I love Don's little zingers he compliments Cowboys old time WR Preston Pearson...and then adds "whose catches wouldnt be counted (today)" .. Don did say first time in Cowboys history the team played their first two games without a turnover----but they need TDs, in the playoffs they are going to need touchdowns and not field goals when they go against teams like the 49ers.(and Don said thats what he wanted to hear from Dak)..and Matt mentioned the Cowboys did play JV teams LOL and he said that he thought Dak was "a little pissy with the media" Woman LOL(hey I like Matt), of course Chuck THE HOMER made excuses for the Cowboys....well the offense didnt have Brandin Cook....(see what I mean--well the Jets didnt have Aaron Rodgers---that would help the Cowboys a bit LOL) And when Matt asked if the Cowboys are the best team in the NFL--homer Chuck  said YES, Don said NO the 49ers are---LOL---This is just to give you a taste of the show

That was so sad about that fan dying and his son was right there too....and to make it worse what about all those people that were near by and watched and recorded the incident on their phones instead of getting an usher or security guard....many of us said they should be charged as accomplishes.......With the state of mind people are in today, maybe they should stop selling alcohol at these games which just adds fuel to these emotions....but as a realist I know that will never happen, but I think it would help!

Re: Week Two of the 2023 NFL Regular Season!!!

@Spurt Thank you so much! Such kind words from someone who feels my pain. Yes, I believe Washington can move forward now that they got rid of Snyder. I wish your football team good luck this year as well!Smiley HappyHeart
