Week Two of the 2023 NFL Regular Season!!!

We start week two with the Vikings rowing their boat all the way to Philly to take on the Eagles. Neither team had a great week one. The Eagles got the win though, so there's that, while the Vikings lost. The Vikings are having issues with their interior offensive line while the Eagles are very good at attacking the interior of the offensive line. I'm assuming the Eagles remember they have Dallas Goedert this week (he was wide open much of last week and wasn't targeted.) I'll take the Eagles for the win. They should play better this week. It would be hard not to play better this week.

Green Bay heads to Atlanta. Both teams won last week. Both looked okay. Green Bay is a slight favorite and I'll give them the edge also. I'll take the Packers.

The Raiders head to Buffalo. If you're a warm-weather team heading to Buffalo, September is the time to go. Josh Allen was horrible last week for the Bills. I think he'll rebound from that and get the win this week. Another week like last week's for Allen and people will start calling him another Carson Wentz. I'll take the Bills.

The Ravens fly into Cincy to take on the Bengals. That Bengals' o-line is still scary. I just can't trust them to protect Joe Burrow. If he's running for his life, he's not going to be very productive. I'll take the Ravens.

Seattle goes to Detroit. The Seahawks got blown out by the Rams last week in Seattle. The Lions are better than the Rams. Seattle didn't look good. I'll take the Lions.

Indy goes to Houston in a battle of the rookie QBs. This is one of those "Well, someone has to win it" games. Neither team is likely to be a real playoff contender this year. (Or next year for that matter.) I like both head coaches. Both rookie QBs have tons of potential. I guess I'll take the Texans. Their defense could carry them to victory.

KC continues to be tested early this season. This week they sashay down to Jacksonville to take on the Jags. The Chiefs' receivers forgot how to catch the ball last week. That's kind of a big problem. The Jags are a very solid team with few glaring holes. I'll take the Jags in this one.

The Bears head to Tampa Bay to take on the Bucs. The Bears were supposed to be a surprise team this year, but after week one many are saying they're still the same old Bears. The Bucs were supposed to be bad, but with Baker Mayfield at the helm, they pulled out the win. I'm going to take the Bears this week. Baker's hot and cold and after starting out hot, maybe he's due to be cold? I'll take the Bears and hope for the best.

The Chargers head to Tennessee to take on the Titans. The Chargers are (well, should be) the better team. I think they'll show that this week. I'll take the Chargers.

The Giants head west to take on the Cards. That Giants' o-line is such a mess that it's hard to pick them to win a game. This is the only really winnable game on their immediate schedule with the Niners, Seahawks, Dolphins, and Bills coming up. I'll give the edge to the Giants, but that o-line scares me.

The Niners take on the Rams in a message game. The Niners will want to punish the Rams to show they're still the boss of the NFC West. The Rams will want to get the win to remind the world that they still exist even without Cooper Kupp and can win big games. I'll take the Niners as they're just a better team, but it could be a pretty good game.

The Jets head to Dallas to crash and burn. This is my pick in the survivor pools this week. That Jets o-line against Micah Parsons is a mismatch on an epic scale. Dallas should get the win fairly easily. It's just not a good matchup for the Jets. The Jets really need their defense to come up huge to stay in this one.

Washington heads to Denver.  Playing the Broncos in Denver is never easy. I guess I'll give a slight edge to the Broncos.

The Dolphins take on the Patriots on Sunday night. The Dolphins are a fast and powerful offensive team. The Patriots are a tough and sneaky defense. I'll take the Dolphins, but the upset here wouldn't shock me.

And we end the week with two, count em, two Monday night games. The first has the Saints taking on the Panthers. The Saints aren't a very good team, but they've got a ridiculously easy schedule and are likely to finish with a very good record. The Panthers are young and learning the NFL. I like the future for the Panthers and the direction they're going, I just think the Saints will get the win this week.

Our final game this week has the Browns at the Steelers. DeShaun Watson just doesn't look good to me. I like the kids on the Steelers. I'll take the Steelers in this one.

Re: Week Two of the 2023 NFL Regular Season!!!

[ Edited ]

Hi Everyone! Here we go with Week 2 picks! (I got 9 right last week)

VIKINGS vs EAGLES---Ill take the Eagles talented roster over Capt Kirk and crew---EAGLES for the win!  Some say Buc's QB Baker Mayfield figured out the Vikes defensive signals----if Baker can do it, other teams can do it!

PACKERS vs FALCONS--The Falcons may surprise this year, Ridder did a decent job 83% completion rate and poor backup QB and Washington favorite QB Taylor Heinicke may never take the field, but I like Jordan Love and their defense a little more--PACK get the "w"

RAIDERS vs BILLS---Easy on the eyes Jimmy G surprised and helped his team get a win, while the Bill's Josh Allen got his team a LOSS....but I think that loss will give Allen extra motivation and he will bounce back for the WIN---BILLS

RAVENS vs BENGALS----It was the Bengals that laid an egg and not the Ravens----Boy the Bengals need to rebound, Coach Pop would approve, gotta get back in this tight AFC race.....The Ravens took care of business over the hapless Texans.......I'll go for an upset and take the BENGALS to get the victory at home!

SEAHAWKS vs LIONS---The Seahawks looked like a potential contender at least in the playoffs, but they started with a FLOP.  Meanwhile those Lions took care of the Super Bowl Champs---the LIONS will ROAR and win another!!!

COLTS vs TEXANS---This is the game our area we will get on CBS---ZZZZZ!!!!  I'm taking the COLTS!!! I like Richardson better than CJ.......COLTS WIN!

CHIEFS vs JAGUARS---The Chiefs look to get back on track after being fed to the Lions.....maybe they'll ask fans to volunteer for receiver duty ...they would be so much better than who is on the field right now---SHEESH!  The Jags are a young team that looks to challenge this year----Its gonna be 86 and 50% chance of rain---so heat and humidity adding to the Jags chances for the "W"...is it possible for the Chiefs to actually be

0-2---you bet....Im taking the JAGUARS with an upset!!!

BEARS vs BUCS ----Where is the Bear team that the national media bragged about---they are who I thought they were!!!...Meanwhile Baker Mayfield silenced his critics with a WIN!!!  I'm going with Baker and another win for the BUCS!

CHARGERS vs TITANS---The Chargers and Herbert put up the points, but where was their defense????  Brandon Staley is on the hot seat, his talented roster should be doing more.....they did go up against a good Dolphin team. I dont understand what the Titans are doing??? Are they trying to abandon Derrick Henry and the running game, they've made some strange roster moves---Ya cant trust a Belichick protege---I'm taking the CHARGERS!

GIANTS vs CARDINALS---Washington's defense came to life in the second half and shut the Card's offense down, if the Giants can't do the same they are in serious trouble........I bet the Giants will rely on their FG kicker for the win-GIANTS!!!

49ERS vs RAMS---NFC RIVALS TAKE THE FIELD!!!  No love lost between these two---Just when you thought the Rams were dead they beat a pretty good Seahawk team.  However, they are going up against the WEEK 1 JUGGERNAUT---the 49ers.....NFL fandom secretly hopes for a 49 win so they don't have to hear the whinning and excuses if they lose.....There's no home field advantage for the Rams---taking the 49ERS with a win---hope their fans dont beat up each other in the stands as part of their celebration.....Woman Frustrated

JETS vs COWBOYS----OH NO, pardon the pun, but another break for the Cowboys as they get to play against the Rodgerless Jets---The COWBOYS and their fans will be intolerable as they puff out their chests declaring themselves SUPER BOWL CHAMPS in week 2---SHEESH!! Woman Mad

WASHINGTON vs BRONCOS--Washington heads to mile high to play a banged up Bronco team. Sean Payton's short dink passing scheme for Russell Wilson was not quite successful.....Washington's Dline and defense overall is good, real good---think of what the score wouldve been if they were able to hold on to the ball for two interceptions, rookie CB Forbes showed he's the real deal, one small mistake but overall good game!.....Sam Howell made some mistakes his interception was due to a ball that was tipped and he had a fumble due to an o-line that didnt stop the pressure resulting in 6 sacks---One good thing about Sam if he makes a mistake he shrugs it off and corrects--which he did with a nice pass. TE Logan "always hurt" Thomas was rusty and dropped some easy throws, fans said TE Cole is more reliable than Thomas these days go to him!!.  EB's offense didnt let RB Robinson do his thing enough, and just like Scott Turner, hey EB, please remember ya got a guy named Terry McLaurin!!!!--SHEESH!!!  Can we dump Mr. Fumbles Gibson!!!!  With the Bronco's decimated WRs and counting on young guns to step up, Washington's D will be ready---HEY GUYS KNOCK OFF THE STUPID PENALTIES AND TURNOVERS!!!  I'm taking my WASHINGTON team for the WIN another game ball for Josh Harris! Woman Very Happy

cheerleader - Copy.gif

DOLPHINS vs PATRIOTS---With the way Tua and Company put up the points, they look like a contender IF Tua can stay healthy....Meanwhile the Patriots aint what they used to be, and there will be no Brady comeback to save them.......DOLPHINS---Flipper will be proud of this team!

SAINTS vs PANTHERS---I'll take veteran Derek Carr vs rookie Bryce Young---SAINTS will go marching in and leave with the VICTORY!!

BROWNS vs STEELERS---The Browns became KING OF OHIO FOOTBALL against the Bengals!!!  Their D is good, very good in fact they carried the team, cause Watson didnt look very good, I hope he hasnt been checking out Cleveland's massage parlors--Woman Frustrated! The Steelers looked pathetic, will they bounce back!!! Mike Tomlin is the coach that can do it and the Steelers are at home with their loyal and rabid fans---Im taking the STEELERS here!

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!

Be prepared---Y'all are sure to hear about this, regarding that murderer and prison escapee--Images from CBS Philadelphia's chopper showed a crew of officers in camouflage escorting Cavalcante. The escaped prisoner apprears to be wearing a Philadelphia Eagles sweatshirt.

My sister, the NY Giants fan was the first to make a sarcastic comment about him wearing an Eagles sweatshirt---Unfortunately, the reputation of Eagle fans lives on and takes yet another turnWoman Wink

I wouldn't expect that to happen for a number of reasons. I just don't think Brissett is that good these days. He's more expensive than some of the other options who are likely as good. (Both in terms of salary and the cost to acquire him.) I suspect the Jets have talked about every QB in the league given their situation.

If they think Rodgers will retire (or be encouraged to retire) then making a move for one of the kid QBs who's trapped behind proven starters might make more sense. Dorian Thompson-Robinson (DRT) of the Browns or Tanner McKee of the Eagles both looked great in the preseason, and both are trapped in situations where they're unlikely to ever be the starter. The Browns can't move on from DeShaun Watson no matter how poorly he plays. ($220+ million in dead money this year, $200+ million in 2024, $136+ million in 2025, and $72+ million in 2026.) That makes DRT a valuable commodity for them. Dangle the right bait and the Jets could get their QB of the future.

Tanner McKee is a similar guy in a similar situation. He's behind Hurts and Mariota in Philly this year. He could start in the league though. The Jets would have to overpay for either kid. (Probably vastly overpay since both teams know they're a bit desperate.) Offer a conditional pick that's a base third, and could move all the way up to a first if certain goals are met and they might get a deal done for one of those guys. Both will likely be sought after in the offseason by QB needy teams.

DRT crushed the competition to land the backup job in Cleveland. The Browns would need someone back to replace him which might hinder a trade there. McKee is third string in Philly, so the price might be lower. The upside on either guy is pretty high though. If the Jets think Rodgers is done forever, then they need to make a move. Those two guys would be sound investments going forward. If you need a patchwork guy and expect Rodgers back, then Brissett, Mariota, Flacco, Foles, etc. would be smarter moves.

Re: Week Two of the 2023 NFL Regular Season!!!

I trust Anthony Richardson more than CJ Stroud. The Texans' defense has improved,  and the Colts don't have a reliable running game. The Texans have Singletary and Dameon Pierce.   Colts' defense can create problems for Stroud, though. I'm thinking that this will be a close game.

The Jets are eyeing former QB Chad Henne, who retired after 2022. Maybe they will offer him a good deal, so he'll return.

Colin Kaepernick's agent called the Jets, saying that Kaepernick is available. The team hasn't responded. That guy just won't go away!

What happened with Dallas Goedert? He was on my fantasy lineup and got no targets. Someone needs to remind the OC that Goedert is on the team.

I just can't picture Aaron Rodgers ending his NFL career like this.....like The Terminator I think Rodgers WILL BE BACK, at least for 2024.....JMHO!

@teganslaw

Ive heard some say Philip Rivers who at one time expressed an interest that he would like to play again.....

Goedert isnt the only forgotten man, it appears Washington's OC has forgotten bout Terry McLaurin! He was only targeted 2 times.... Woman Frustrated

FORMER ESPN analyst, Jamele Hill is the one in the media stirring up Colin K's name, she needs to keep her big mouth shut .......Colin Kaepernick is DONE.....Jamele likes to take any topic and turn it into a political battle .... that's what she always does and fortunately it caught up with her and cost her not only her position with ESPN (its disputed whether she left after pressure was put on for her to do so, or whether she was fired due to several suspensions by the network and social media and complaints she generated!) she was also under pressure and left Spotify and her Podcast there !! Woman Tongue

All the political talk is why ESPN has gone own the tubes, only their live game broadcasts save them, but its costing them a fortune, they are even trying to re-configure and make the sports leagues their "partners"---which raises fairness and objectivity issues, so far the NBA and MLB have said NO SALE!

Re: Week Two of the 2023 NFL Regular Season!!!

@Spurt - oh yes, I'm waiting for my managers in Texas to start up, unless they aren't hearing anything since they're all busy working.  The press conference was on most of the morning about him and I'm so happy they got the guy!  That was scary!  Wasn't in my area - I'm about an hour as West Chester is west of even Philly.

Our governor was funny as he said "I need to find out where the guy stole the Eagles shirt from as I want to buy him a new one"!  LOL

I'm hoping the Eagles will do well tomorrow night as they sure as heck didn't impress me on Sunday!  We shall see!

Re: Week Two of the 2023 NFL Regular Season!!!

The Eagles will be down four starters tomorrow night. Reed Blankenship and Kenny Gainwell are out with rib injuries. James Bradberry is out with a concussion. And Nakobe Dean is out with a foot injury. That means we're likely to see rookie Sydney Brown at safety and second year guy Josh Jobe filling in for Bradberry. Rashad Penny will likely replace Gainwell.

The good news is those guys were all playing in the preseason and should still be sharp. Quite an opportunity for the kids to show what they can do. Opportunity is knocking, will they answer? We'll find out tomorrow night.
