I call that torture in gym class!!!!  We had to do certain exercises which weren't always easy but climbing a rope, no and I am grateful for that!!!!

I hated climbing those ropes...also side jumps over a pummel horse, tumbling, flipping on a trampoline, swimming-diving, running outside in the heat and all those crazy gym teachers who expected you to be a world class athlete. In grade school I got bounced off a trampoline by a girl twice+ my size & broke my wrist. I can laugh about it now but gym class...ugh.

When you look at that now, it really is crazy and not such a safe thing that they made young kids do that!

Not everyone was training for the olympics!

I agree with the gym teachers expecting everyone to be a world class athlete. I hated PE. Hated running in the heat, gymnastics was awful, and I couldn't throw a ball to save my life. I did kinda like volleyball and swimming. There wasn't one single sport I was even close to be good at. Fortunately my best friend had arthritis and was exempt from most PE activities and she managed to convince the teacher that her and I would be able to walk around the field for the hour and that would fulfill our PE requirement. We had great times walking that field.

@drizzellla

We never had to do that maybe because it was Catholic school.

It was just the nuns that tortured us ha.
