Re: What is it with the GILI Roma II?

I find that once I notice a defect in something or a find that something bothers me, I almost can't get past it. My eye just goes there. No one else notices it but I do. I am not one the checks things out all that well so I guess it has to be pretty bad for me to see it. I would not keep something if I noticed an issue when I got it.

Send it back....it's a handbag...don't stress yourself out! I fell for the first TSV...not worth the money!

Re: What is it with the GILI Roma II?

I fell for the hype (darn it) and purchased this bag. It's going back tomorrow. The bag looks like a piece of luggage -- way too big. And honestly, I didn't think it was nearly as pretty as it appeared on television. It really isn't anything special, in my opinion.

Re: What is it with the GILI Roma II?

Thanks to all..I agree with everything that has been said!

MY Roma saga is over..I packed it up this AM....it's back in the box.

I stated on a different thread that the skins on the back and one side were completely different from the rest of the bag. Most of the bag was soft and smooth. These 2 areas were very stiff and had a very crude texture (alttle bit lighter in color, too). Call me crazy, but I decided to overlook this problem and keep it. That was before my DH asked why there was a large circular indentation in the front of the bag. Honestly, I didn't even notice it until after the bag had been hanging overnight. But, he was right. The feel of the leather in that area was much thinner, too. With the right amount of pressure, I think I could have put my finger through it!..That was where my story ends, because now I had NO good side!!LOL

The "blush" color was probably what clouded my judgement..So, I will scout out a different "blush" bag and "they all lived happily after!"

Last night I ordered the new Oryany Joyce Hobo (A254122) in blush. It is also big but the Oryany leather is soft and high quality..

Re: What is it with the GILI Roma II?

I got carried away, and ordered 4 of the G.I.L.I. TSV bags (Blush, Cream Snake, Metallic and Natural Ostrich). I got the Blush and Cream Snake yesterday, and am expecting the Metallic to be delivered today. The Natural Ostrich is still en-route.

Both the Blush and Cream Snake look perfect. My problem is the weight of the bag. I could probably carry it with almost nothing in it (just for looks); however, I have back problems, and I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to carry the bag for long with the normal contents of my bags. I probably will need to return 3 of the bags, but I plan to keep one to use as a tote, if I need to carry papers, etc. However, the bags are much too heavy for me to carry on a daily basis.

So if you will be looking for a nice Blush bag, it will be going back to QVC soon. I'm sure others will be returning bags for one reason or another, that are in perfect condition.

Re: What is it with the GILI Roma II?

rsimon..Thanks for the tip, I will definitely check it out!

lyn...Now that my Roma dust has settled, I can be slightly more objective and I agree with you that it is a BIG bag. If you do not usually carry a big, heavy bag, it may even seem awkward and uncomfortable. If you have back issues, it's probably not the best choice. The "carry" of the bag is also somewhat limited. In my opinion, the bag is designed for crook of the arm , only. The shorter upright handles don't allow alot of arm room which is OK now with lighter clothing, but with coats and sweaters the fit might be a bit tight. The longer strap secures side-front/side-back and causes the bag to gape front and back. Not a big deal, but also not a good look. I remember in the "training" video, Lisa said that she never uses it and I don't remember anyone modelling the bag semi-crossbody. It is easy to see why they didn't push it.

There is NO doubt that the Roma II is alot of beautiful bag for the $$, but maybe not as universal as advertised.

Re: What is it with the GILI Roma II?

I'm so sorry it didn't work for you, Have6cats! I totally agree with you about the carry of the bag. It is a crook of the arm bag, not a shoulder bag. Mine fits on my shoulder but even when it's on there the rolled handles just slide right off. This is a bag you hold on your arm or in your hand. I wouldn't even consider it cross body unless I was traveling and had to be hands-free. I DO love mine and will be keeping them despite the weight, but I've been carrying my MK bag this way for about a year now so I've been in training for this one. Lol. Hope you find something you love!! There are so many to choose from.
