@ECBG  I agree.  A good shoe stretcher is definitely the only way to go.  It's worth the money.

@luv-the-QI have found the spray makes it mold more quickly.

I do own a wooden shoe stretcher with those removable plastic nobs (used for areas like bunions or where the area needs extra stretching) but I have found that the shoe stretchers don't work on the sewn areas of the shoes like the vamp edge of the shoe. The thread doesn't stretch enough.

@TYIf you have a seam rubbing your foot, I'd cut out mole skin in the Dr Scholl's area.  The back of this soft fabric is like tape and the soft side is next to your foot.

Re: Stretching shoes using ice

Well, ladies, I'm happy to report that my experiment worked! I kept my shoes in the freezer overnight and took the bags of frozen water out of them the next morning.  I put the shoes in my closet until I came home from work that day and tried them on.  I walked around in them and could tell that they had stretched because they didn't pinch even when putting them on at the end of the day, when one's feet are generally a little more swollen.  The first time I wore them, I put them on in the morning and couldn't keep them on for five minutes.  So, this is one more vote for stretching shoes using ice! I do have some moleskin but when the edge of the shoe is tight due to the stitched seam and it won't stretch, the shoes have to go. I just donated a couple pair of ballet flats with that problem, the edge of the vamp was cutting into the top of my left foot and leaving a red mark.

@TY

Yeah, I guess there's not much you can do to stretch stitching, unfortunately.  Sorry you had to get rid of your shoes.
