Barefoot Contessa here. I only wear socks for walking. Leg warmers, though, that's a different story.

I occasionally wear socks once temps go below zero or when I'm out plowing snow. My boots keep my feet warm without socks.

I will carry my slippers or take a pair of socks when I go to other people's homes since we take off our shoes when entering. 

In the winter, I wear Ugg ultra mini classic as slippers. Now that arthritis has attacked my ankles and knees, I'm considering getting a pair of 'short' Uggs for slippers.

The ultra mini I'm wearing now is 4 years old and looks like new so, overall, they're end up costing less than most slippers or boots. I just spray protector on them when received and replace the insole each year.

I LOVE socks, warmth in NE winter, super soft, and extra cushioning for my feet!  If I go without socks in sneaks or shoes, my feet sweat and get clammy immediately- When it's too hot for socks, I miss my socks!

No socks for me.  Even in the winter, I rely on the lining of my boots to keep me warm.

This might stem from the uniform I had to wear from my old Catholic girls’ school days.  Socks part of the uniform.  I hated that.

I am 50/50 on this.  Summertime it's sandals and Skechers sneakers without socks.  All my sneakers are light and airy and can be washed and the insoles come out for easy airing out if needed (though I don't really have sweaty feet).   In winter I always wear socks with my shoes and boots, even in my Bearpaws I wear what they call sock liners, a very thin sock.   Just more comfortable for me, like @SilleeMee it's like not wearing underwear, LOL!    Also @Pook... sheeps wool in Bearpaws and Uggs is naturally antibacterial and doesn't stink or grow mold.

No socks in summer except no shows for my workout sneakers.  I only wear sandals the other times.

When it's change of season and I'm wearing loafer-type shoes, no socks.  But, when I wear my boots/booties, it's socks all the way.   When people ask me what I want for Christmas,  I say socks.   They also have to be knee-high socks.  Whenever I wear what they call "boot socks", after a few steps, most of it has worked down into my shoes.  That drives me crazy.

I only wear thin socks.  I don't like thick socks even when it's freezing out.  I often wear mule socks which are like a half sock.  They cover your toes and go up your foot about three inches.  They are made for wearing mules, but I tend to wear them with all my shoes unless the weather dictates something warmer.

I always wear socks unless I'm wearing sandals.

I believe that if you don't wear socks, the inside of your shoes or boots breaks down faster and your footwear just doesn't last as long.

I am foot-phobic! 🙈 The only time my feet aren't covered is if I'm sitting out at my pool.

🤷‍♀️ Oh wait, at the derm office, too, for my full body check... he touches my feet and I start giggling.. can't help it!  🤪
