Shoe recommendation for bunions?

Jane,

Which shoes do you recommend for bunion issues? Shoes that don’t have a high heel and have support.

Thought someone posted this question a couple of days ago on here.

Sketchers Go-Walk.  I have one surgically repaired bunion and one I'm living with.  Never had a shoe as comfy as the Go-Walk.

For me, Birkenstocks and Naot work the best with my bunions.  I can also wear Easy Spirit Traveler shoes, and have 5 pair in different colors.

Bunion here too but only on one foot. But that whole foot is weird including the way the toes aren't straight. In any case, another vote for Easy Spirit Travel Time. They have a nice roomy toe box. Comfy dress shoes are difficult.

Re: Shoe recommendation for bunions?

I have a bunion on the right foot from teaching for years in high heels.  One type of foot is likely to develop bunions and I'm "it"!  I have these shoe stretchers (the bunion will increase with pressure, so don't wear tight shoes) from Colonical Assistited Medical Devices.  I had tried to order these from another company and they sent me a cheeper version with a black plastic turn handle which I sent back.

Women's High Heel Stretcher - Large (8.5-9.5)

Look for shoes with open weaves which will have some "give" they stretch very nicely.

I wear this style a lot because it loosens up nicely.

Fly London.  You'll notice my heel is raised only 1 inch.

Good Luck!  They say you don't have to have surgery until you have pain!  Winter closed shoes are the hardest on me.Smiley Happy

Here are the brands that work for me.

Sketchers "relaxed" fit

Clarks cloud steppers with wide straps

Earth origins with the wider straps

Re: Shoe recommendation for bunions?

i recently bought cute, comfy clogs by the Spenco brand here and really like the wide toe box, supportive metatarsal piece, and cork insoles in their slip on clogs. Reviewers with bunions seem to like them as well. Very comfy all day, go with anything colors. A306913 Came in wide and medium, now just M left. Spenco currently has 6 other styles in wide width. Maybe their Spring collection will have more wides in this style again. I really loved my first pair of wide, navy, Siesta clogs but when wides were sold out I tried the medium width and found them to be less generous but still comfortable for my feet. Now my wides seem baggy but stay on fine. I don't like to have to hold onto the shoe/sandal with my toes while walking, and these clogs stay on without doing that. Effortless to put on, walk, and slide off.

Re: Shoe recommendation for bunions?

I have a bunion and hammertoe on my left foot.  I avoid anything with a high heel, anything that rubs up against the bunion or pointy toe shoes that squeeze my toes together and irritate the hammertoe.  I have very good luck with birkenstocks, L'Artiste Collection by Spring Step and some Fly London shoes.
