You know the shocking thing... I actually can and (gasp) do like, purchase and carry more than one brand... I'd no more limit myself to one brand of bag than I'd be satisfied having the same thing for lunch every day...

Probably I would think of this as NOT a young person's choice. I carry them. The TSV yesterday did look like the back of an ambulance or a road work ahead sign.

I don't know many women 70 or older who would even care to carry a D & B at $398+ a purse. These bags are NOT stylish, they ALL look the same. Don't think that I don't love a great leather bag, but I can certainly find great leather bags much less than the brands sold on the Q.

Touche!
I agree.
Also, what's with so many posts about "age" anyway? So much concern over whether something's too young, too old, too dated, too old-fashioned. Blah, blah, blah.
What difference does it make in the end? Why does everything have to be connected with a number....a number that no one on the planet can do anything about? It's like a sick obsession.
Why can't people just surround themselves with things they like, and avoid the things they don't care for based on the thing itself and not how it relates back to age.
There is a saying, "Forget your age and live your life."
I think it would be nice to forget your age and just be free in matters of personal taste.

D&B bags are really lovely and very well designed. Unfortunately they weigh far more than I'm willing to carry around all day. I love the weight of Vera Bradley bags, but they are too flowery for most outfits IMHO. And I'll soon be 80.
It's hard to hit that happy medium, and to me something that costs two to four hundred dollars just isn't the happy medium I'm talking about. I love to find soft leather bags in pretty colors, with straps that can be elongated to cross body or kept short. Medium in size, and I don't want two sets of handles - just the strap, because it's either going shoulder length or cross body. I'm never going to do one on the crook of my arm, so I don't need those handles.
Price wise, I don't like to go over $100.00, but will go a bit higher if I absolutely love it. That's why I shop Marshall's and/or Consignment Stores for handbags and ??. I find amazing things at those sometimes. Last month a brand new pair of Prada boots for daughter for less than $35.00. And a new Brighton bag (with tags) at about the same price. Dooney prices are really out of hand. A handbag priced like a car note is just silly, no matter how much $$ you make or have to spend.
And BTW, Hi Cindy. I do have that alligator bag you mentioned. Bought it in 1951 with one of my first paychecks, and it wasn't really expensive. Neither were the alligator shoes I bought to go with it. Still have those, too. Guess I'm saving them to put in the will!![]()

I have only seen old people and very young with the Vera bags.

I have many of them and I'm 37. I get tons of compliments on my bags. Lots of them coming from teenagers and twenty somethings. I think it depends on how you wear them. It's not like I'm wearing tweed blazers, long wool skirts, and a velvet headband.

Most ridiculous post ever. If a particular style looks old fashioned to you, don't buy it. More for the rest of us to choose from. Sheesh.
