Has anyone received their Roma Ostrich Natural color and noticed little smear marks? I just got mine yesterday and noticed some smear marks. I love the bag and since it is on waitlist I can't get an exchange right away plus I am afraid to get a bad one that was returned. I am probably being too picky because no one else would even see the marks. Thanks

Smear marks? Not sure what you mean. I received mine a few days ago and it's gorgeous. The only thing I noticed on it is about a dime size portion of leather that is a touch lighter in color, but it's only noticeable if you view it from certain angles. It's leather, it's going to have natural imperfections. It definitely isn't enough to make me want to send it back and see what else I get that could be worse. I can just keep that side of the bag towards me. Besides, when I treat it with mink oil or another leather protectant, it will probably blend in.

Certainly if you have very noticeable flaws in your bag, then I would send it back.

Mine had lots of flaws. There were stray brush marks in several places, an area of streaking in the approximate shape of a "y" on one of the large panels, which was slightly more wrinkled than the rest of the leather, and an area on the bottom panel on the opposite side where the painting on the dots was HUGE - like teen-age zits. I was not at all impressed with the quality of the finish on the hide, though I loved the color and I really like the Roma 2 bags in general.

I recently received the Natural Ostrich Roma 2 Tote, and I inspected it thoroughly, and there are no brown streaks running through it. I believe there was another posting about something like this.

Update: Upon further close inspection, I notice the brown spearing on an area of the bottom of my bag (about 1 1/2" X 2"). A couple small smears on the handle. The rest of the bag looks okay. I think that when the brown spots were painted on the bag, it was then set down before it was completely dry, and that's why the smearing occurred.

If your bag has brown streaks, I suggest you first call Customer Service and let them know, so they can make note in your account to refund your return shipping. Then ask if they can order you a replacement on wait list, with the same price and easy pay (if that's what you would like to do). If you just return the tote and request a replacement, since it's sold out now, they will just refund your money and not put you on wait list.

Yes, I totally agree, that is how it should be handled.

Favorite Son, I'm so sorry to hear that your bag is so flawed.... I would be so disappointed. Trust me, there are good ones... I got one, Lyn got one, so you shouldn't settle for a defective product. I would follow Lyn's advice regarding the return/exchange process, because in the end, you are the customer and you deserve to get a quality product without inconvenience, and that is what they promise. Best of luck.

I had the same problem with my Natural Ostrich Roma 2, OP. Some of the brown ostrich "dots" were smeared, like the people painting them on did not wait long enough for them to dry before they packaged them up to send. The smears were noticeable, so I sent it back as defective and did not want to take a chance on another one on waitlist. It was sad, but it had to go back. {#emotions_dlg.sad}

I sent mine back, too. There was no way I was carrying that thing as it was sent to me. I checked out some of the ostrich options in the Dooney collection at Dillard's, and the painting on them was perfect. I might eventually get the ivory ostrich, since it doesn't have the dot painting. Most people who got that color are very pleased with it.

Mine had "smear" marks on both sides. I called Customer Service right away and returned it. I have to say that it was a gorgeous bag, and definitely much lighter than I thought that it was going to be. I described the smear marks to CS as looking like water spots....even though I knew they weren't, that's what it looked like.

I thought my Natural Ostrich was perfect, but upon further inspection, I see smearing on the bottom of the bag (about 1 1/2 x 2 inches), on one of the handles, and on the cross-body strap. It's not a lot of smearing, and that's probably why I didn't notice it earlier. I don't know that it's bad enough to return it. I don't see any problems on the front, back and sides.

I already had to return the Metallic bag (which I liked a lot), because of shallow cuts across the middle of the tassel. It's on wait list now.

I probably should have ordered the black bag, just to be safe. I haven't read any problems with the black tote.

I switched to Natural Ostrich now after boxing up the Cream Snake to return. I don't see any issues but I'm going to give it another look.
