Re: Inconsistent Shoe Sizing

I agree....I have to try on shoes before I buy because the fit either squishes my toes or they feel like they will fall off after being worn a few times...

Re: Inconsistent Shoe Sizing

I am disappointed that Clarks went from making simple/comfy shoes, and now makes wild/crazy high heels like everybody else.  Why not stick with their winner: simple/comfy shoes.

I just ordered a pair of the Clark's snake loafers in a 5 1/2. I'm ALWAYS a 5 1/2. I had to return them for a 6. I wouldn't have bothered, but I really liked the shoe. Sizing mistakes result in costly shipping for the customer, and that turns me off. I think I'll stay away from ordering shoes in the future.

I have this snake loafer in black - I bought it in the Q outlet and needed an 8 1/2 w -  where I normally wear a 9m or 9w in  Clarks. Then I saw an 'as is' in a different color and I grabbed the 8 1/2 w. It fit terribly!  So even within the same style it ran differently.

Re: Inconsistent Shoe Sizing

Earth also runs inconsistently - some styles 1/2 - a full size too big.  But then other items run true! I buy very few pairs of shoes on line- and if I do, free shipping both ways is preferred (obviously not bought on Q's site!!).

Re: Inconsistent Shoe Sizing

I learned over a decade ago never go by American shoe sizes, like clothes they never match brand to brand.

Instead, go by the EU and CM sizing. Check your favorite shoes, and compare to a pair that you're interested in but people complain about it running this way or that. Also, to save money, next time you're at a shoe store, Walmart, Target, etc, check the KIDS section. Kids size 5 translates to a women's 7. The EU is almost always a 37/38. I bought kids shoes for decades and saved quite a bit.

A few years back I bought a pair of Keen Newport H2. I had been drooling over them for years. But couldn't spend  $100 on sandals. I compared the kids sizes and, lo and behold, a kids size 5 was $34! They fit like a dream.

Re: Inconsistent Shoe Sizing

Regarding Clarks, I can definitely relate.  I recently purchased the Helio Float sandals and the Lexi Marigold sandals on the QVC website.  My sandal size is 8W, so I ordered both in that size.  The Helio Float sandals were too snug for me; they felt more like a Medium-Wide as opposed to a true Wide, so I returned them.  The Lexi Marigold sandals appeared to be 1/2 size larger and were also snug, so I returned them as well.

Fortunately, I have several pairs of sandals purchased a few years ago that fit well and still look good.  But in the future, I'll purchase any shoes or sandals in a B&M store as opposed to online - the return fees are too much these days.
