Re: Getting Birkenstock shoes repaired

@Venezia @Oh!  My heart leaped!  Another Birkenstock lover!

I wish I could figure out how to post pictures so we could compare our shoes!

The one’s I’m talking about almost look like the American flag.

Like I said...all but maybe 3 pair came from QVC.  The pair I’m talking about came from the Birkenstock website.  The original ones like them had smaller straps (which I like best).

The messed up ones are the thicker straps like his.

Evidentally from what I read about Sir Paul he loves Birkenstock’s as we do.

I can’t understand why QVC no longer sells them.  Except maybe because Vionic sells a tinny similar version with the cork bed.

I love shoes...period.  When I was pregnant with my oldest daughter, I wore a size 8 & 1/2 shoe.  Now I’m up to 10 & 1/2 or 11.

My daughter walked into the bedroom where my mostly Birkenstock’s were on the bed in huge tubs and said, “Mom, can you imagine how much money you invested in these shoes?”

I know everyone of them was at least $79 but more like $100.  Worth every penny.  Ha!

Describe your favorite one’s.

Mine are so many colors and designs and a variety of straps, etc.  Some are all rubber for getting them wet.  I don’t wear them much because the rubber doesn’t give like the cork bottom does.

@Annabellethecat66

I didn't want to name the company because I thought the mods would delete it. The company is Birkenstock Express.

[ Edited ]

@Annabellethecat66 - I doubt I have as many Birks as you do, fewer than a dozen pairs and I got them all from QVC, usually on sale or when they did a TSV.  (Come to think of it, I did get at least one or two pairs from Sam's Club years back.)

The red, white and blue ones were sold a long time ago as a July 4th (or patriotic) pair and have four thin straps that criss-cross.  Two blue with white stars and two red and white striped.

Right now I'm wearing a pair of black ones with multi-colored CND symbols on them (often confused with the peace sign).  I got these with a white background as well; both were on a lunchtime special at the time.

Others I have are solid colors.  I'd have to go through all my shoes to see exactly how many I have.  I have recently thought I should buy some cork sealer for them.

Re: Getting Birkenstock shoes repaired

I had a pair of Birki clogs done with an American flag motif I purchased from QVC. (for some reason, I think Jill Bauer was the host)  At least twice a year there would be a Birkenstock TSV. (under $50 and sometimes as low as under $40).  The TSV would be offered in multiple colors and prints.  Sally could sell me anything. (and she did)

The Birkenstocks sold on QVC were made for QVC.  The sizing was not the same as retail sizing.  I was a 6 and on QVC that was a 36.  Elsewhere, a 6 was 37.  The quality was also not the same.  Most of QVC's sandals were not made of leather.  I remember being devastated when the first pair I purchased (as a TSV in the late 1990s) got wet and the cork rotted.  I went to an authorized Birkenstock shoe store and was told they could be repaired for $50-ish (I'd paid less than that for the shoes) It was cheaper to replace the sandals.

I've donated all my Birkenstocks; the American Flag clogs were never worn. (many others were never worn either) Hopefully someone somewhere is enjoying my obsession from days gone by.

Re: Getting Birkenstock shoes repaired

I have a pair that have QVC all over them.

You have to look carefully to see what it says.

They are blue and white.  I wore them just the other day.

So the flag ones I have are with the thinner straps.  But I wore them a lot.  So when I saw the same ones with the wide straps, I went on and bought hose too.

I’d never give them away, even though most barely look worn.  There are so many, it’s fun to pick out one’s that match my outfit.

Last year I bought my granddaughter some from DSW.  They only had brown and wide straps.

Another favorite kind of shoe I love are Doc Martens.  I bought my other granddaughter a pair of them.  She loved them.  I never had a pair.  Maybe living vicariously by buying them for her.  Ha!

Re: Getting Birkenstock shoes repaired

go to Amazon and buy some shoe gule in a red and white tube.  Before that go to youtube and watch how people fix all the shoes they have with glue.  Check it out before you "hire" someone to fix your shoes.  Glue likely to work and save you a lot of money.
