Over the edge toes does not always indicate the shoe is too short. The pitch may be too great without the security to hold the foot in place. The last picture is an example.
Many models and celebrities look to wear high heels that are too big as there is a gap in the back of the shoe. Again it's the pitch.

But the entire shape of the shoe should accommodate for that. It's poor design if you toe hangs off and you have too much real estate behind the heel no matter the pitch.

@muttmom@software,There is a stick on pad for under the ball of the foot to prevent sliding forward. There are also glue sticks for that purpose.
