Re: Would like something different for Christmas dinner

We don't do a big Christmas dinner. Whatever day our family actually gets together, we do a charcuterie board, a few different dips and dippers, and something that can be served on a bun or go bunless.  Desserts are usually something hand-held, like cookies, brownies, cupcakes, individual cheesecakes.

This year our plan is:

Crack chicken

Charcuterie (salami roses, prosciutto rollups, sliced ham, assorted cheeses, olives)

Veggies with Ranch Dip and Poolside Dip

Hot Taco Dip + tortilla chips

Jalapeno Poppers

SF Pumpkin Whoopie Pies

SF Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars

SF Pecan Pie Bars

Baked ziti with meatballs, sausage, and bracciole on the side.

I never add meat to the ziti tray or lasagna tray.
Garlic bread and a tossed salad.

Cannolis for dessert with cappuccino.

We get a tri tip from Costco. Throw it in the crockpot and make Ruth Chris sweet potato casserole and a veggie.

My husband makes a great tri tip.  Sadly, can't get it where I live any more.

I make lasagna with a filling of ricotta, parmesan cheese, and spinach. I either make the marinara sauce or use Rao's. I serve it with turkey meatballs, garlic bread, and spring greens salad with homemade Italian dressing.

Dessert is cake from Nothing Bundt cakes.

DH and I visited my sister in the fall and she smoked a tri tip for us. It was outstanding.  We're visiting in January and I've already put in my request.  So good!

Re: Would like something different for Christmas dinner

There's just 6 of us so usually we do some type of tenderloin or prime rib, with potatoes, etc.  This year we're switching it up and having lasagna and sausage.  A little bit easier since it can be made ahead and we can just have salad and bread on the side.
