Re: What does hack mean, especially with recipes?

I got such good responses with "crack chicken,"  I should ask what "hack" means, specifically.  I get it sort of means hint.  I guess I hang around with only seniors, no kids in my life whatsoever. DD is 450 miles away.  No grandkids.

I associate it with reverse-engineering a dish so you can create a recipe for it. Todd Wilbur, of Top Secret Recipes, calls his versions of well-known restaurant and supermarket foods "hacks." They're a version of the dish that he's created, coming as close to the original as possible. I love the recipes and his devotion to getting his hacks, AKA clones, right. You  can sign up for his free newsletter on his website. He usually includes a few links to free recipes in each mailing, but you can also join his club for greater access, buy recipes individually, or buy his books. He also sells seasonings.
