Rowing down a river of mashed potatoes with rapids made of gravy! I'll have to jump off at pumpkin pie island.

Re: Waiting for Thanksgiving

[ Edited ]

Just got home from going to the grocery store and Costco. Both places were packed with people. And Thanksgiving is still a week and a day away. Can't imagine what next week will be like.

PS - 11/23 - Just got in from a 2 grocery store and Costco run. Well, I thought last week was packed. Today of course was even worse. It was tough getting down the rows with a cart. So grocery #2 we only used a hand basket so we could get around easier. All the stores seemed to have all employees scheduled and working.

And all the cars waiting to pick up their orders. Oh my, they filled all the parking spots designated for pick up and a line in front of the store.

Re: Waiting for Thanksgiving

Hubby is looking forward to the turkey, he ordered his favorite recipe!

Lemon Turkey

Heat oven to 350 degrees

Rub butter or oil over the skin of the turkey until it is completely
coated.  Take a knife and gently separate the skin from the breast meat.
Slide lemon halves under the skin with the peel side up. This way the
Juice from the lemon will coat the breast. Season skin of turkey to
your preference, place sprig of rosemary into the chicken.

Cover and place in oven for 3-4.hours. Remove cover and continue
to roast until juices run clear, basting every 15-20 minutes depending
on the size of the bird.

If you've followed these steps correctly, your turkey should look like
the one in the picture.

Re: Waiting for Thanksgiving

@godi  When I see that picture, I think of how I'm just trying to keep my head above water when getting ready for T-Day. It is most certainly the hardest cooking day (two days actually) of the year for me. I usually can't move at the end of the day. But it's also one of my favorite food days of the year! (day after, too!)

I saved that photo last year when you posted it and sent it out to all my Thanksgiving relatives in group email since we could not be together due to Covid.  They all got the biggest kick out of that shot.
