I'm thinking of a chocolate cake where the ingredients as sifted into the cake pan.  Then three wells are dug into the dry mixture.  Liquid is added, but I don't know what it was.

I remember making a cake like this a l o n g time ago; seemed like eggs, oil, and water went into the wells.

I have made a cake called Wacky Cake. You mix flour, sugar & unsweetened cocoa powder. Make 3 wells, add water, oil, & vinegar. Mix & bake. I don't the exact recipe right now but you can google it. Kind of just a quick snack cake. My ex-MIL taught me to make it years ago.

Yep, it's the same cake.  I usually mix it in a bowl though and then pour it into a prepared pan.

Thx for sharing. Love it only makes an 8 x 8 pan instead of 13 x 9 which gets dried out & trashed before we can eat all of it. Found a variety of the cakes here. http://www.sweetlittlebluebird.com/p/recipes.html
