Several months ago someone posted a photo of a newer sugar substitute. I did a quick search and could not find the original post.  It was a NEW product not the substitutes that have been around for quite a while.

My local grocery did not carry the product and now  - months later - I have forgotten the name of the sugar...can someone help me out?

I'm not sure about the thread you're looking for but I do use alternative sweeteners. Most of the time it's Monk Fruit, Stevia, Erythritol, or Allulose.  Do any of these ring a bell?

@JeanLouiseFinch   Thank you but no, what you listed does not sound familiar.  Supposedly this product could be used cup for cup and was good to bake with.  I have used a substitute before when baking and the results were not great, so I wanted to try this 'new' sugar...well once I can remember what it was called.

I mostly use monk fruit.  It comes in a package looking like white sugar and there is also a brown version.  It's offered in individual packets as well.

I like that it's zero carbs & calories.  It's also natural and made from the juice of the monk fruit.

Was it Swerve?

@haddon9   Do you bake with the Monk Fruit with good results?

Re: Sugar substitute

Swerve has been around for awhile. It's a brand, not the actual kind of  sweetener. The sweetener in Swerve is erythritol.  If you aren't used to it, you may detect a cooling effect and not like it.

@Mom2Dogs  Could it be RxSugar?  If it is, you'll see that's the brand name as well.  The actual product is Allulose.  Shop around for pricing.

@Mom2Dogs  I wish I could tell you but  I'm not a baker so I really can't say.  I think if you might find that information by looking up baking with monk fruit.

I just know that I have been happy using monk fruit as a sweetner while trying to watch and keep my carbs low.
