Rather than worry about spillovers and cleaning a cookie sheet or oven bottom, go up one quart when making anyone's recipe for a casserole. Three quarts? Go to four. Of course this is assuming you have a pretty complete range of sizes.

I would never use a 2-quart dish for a 2-quart recipe. That is a recipe for discomfort in dipping and a disaster on the oven or countertop.

I lay a piece of aluminum foil on the rack underneath. Just toss it when finished.
