 Seven Layer Cake

1 box Duncan Hines Golden Butter Cake

2/3 cup evaporated milk

4 eggs

1 1/2 sticks butter

Cream butter and eggs. Add the milk and cake mix, gradually. Mix for 15 minutes at medium speed. Use 3/4 cup batter leveled off or use 4.7 oz batter per seven 9 inch prepared pans. Spread evenly. My oven will hold 4 pans. Bake at 350* for 8-10 minutes. Let layers cool completely before frosting them. 

Icing

2 cups white sugar

2 Tablespoons cocoa

1 (5 oz.) small can evaporated milk

1 Tablespoon butter

1 Tablespoon vanilla

In a saucepan, mix sugar and cocoa together, then add milk. Cook, stirring just enough to keep from sticking for about 20 minutes. Turn off the heat, add vanilla and butter.  Spread a thin layer between each layer, then sides and top. 

I made 1 1/2 batches of icing. Next time I will make a double batch. Better to have too much, than not enough. If the cake will be eaten in one day, you can leave it out of the refrigerator in a cake carrier. More than 1 day store in the refrigerator in a cake carrier. 

Going to try the Duncan Hines Moist Butter Recipe Fudge cake mix, baked in 7 layers and white frosting.

I only have 2 round cake pans and 2 heart-shaped cake pans. I guess that wouldn't work, huh.
