Seafood Appetizer ideas...please

Ds and ddil are coming for New Year's Eve along with my two sweet granddaughters. Ddil loves seafood so I'd like to have at least one seafood appetizer for her. We had shrimp cocktail appetizers at Christmas so don't want to do that again. So far we've got hot artichoke dip, little smokies wrapped in bacon with brown sugar or pigs in a blanket(not sure), deviled eggs and sausage stuffed peppers. I want something easy to make because I'm also cooking dinner. I also prefer it be a finger food, not a dip, since I've got one already. Was thinking of bacon wrapped scallops(?) Any ideas? TIA

@Starpolisher  How about crab cakes and/or stuffed clams, or shrimp toast.  Your idea of bacon wrapped scallops gets a "thumbs up" from me.

Call your local supermarket & order a fried shrimps, stuffed fried shrimps & scallop platter.  Dips & what nots come w/the platter.

Unless your DIL isn't fond of scallops that sounds great. One of my favorite appetizers.

There is a hot shrimp dip that is delicious and easy to make. It was very popular a few years ago so there must be recipes on the web. It's made with canned mini shrimp, cream cheese and seasonings. It can be heated in the microwave. Served with chips or triscuits.

Happy New Year!

it has been a recipe we have used for over 30 years.

pretty easy to make and can be frozen and just pulled out and baked when you need them.

@Starpolisher  Love the idea of bacon-wrapped scallops.  Especially when cooked under the broiler with the larger sea scallops and plenty of bacon.

I did a hot Cajun Shrimp dip which was the total hit of may last party- everyone loved it- found it on Pinterest- very EASY and few ingredients-

Another thing I made was  those little filo tart shells stuffed with a mixture of crab, swiss cheese, green onions a dash of worcestershire and a little mayo or cream cheese to bind it al ltogether- bake till hot through, and top with some chopped toasted almonds

Can’t think of anything I would rather have on New Year’s than Salmon.   I would make a smoked salmon platter like this one from “How Sweet Eats”.  The ingredients can be found easily at your local supermarket and it is easy to assemble.

@Starpolisher, or anyone else planning to serve shrimp as part of their New Year celebrations, a "heads up!"

Shrimp recalled in 3 states

Kroger, including Fry's, King Soopers and Smith's grocery stores, has recalled "cooked" shrimp in Michigan, Ohio and Virginia.   The shrimp is labeled as 'cooked' but is either under-cooked or raw, a potential health hazard.     Packages bearing the following product codes should be returned for refunds:

  • Sand Bar Peeled / Cooked Shrimp 26/30 CPTO UPC 11110-64115
  • Shrimp Cooked, Tail-On 26/30 Frozen Service Case UPC 69439-XXXXX
  • Shrimp Grab & Go Service Case UPC 69447-XXXXX
  • Shrimp Cooked 26/30 Seasoned Service Case UPC 69472-XXXXX
  • Shrimp Cooked Tail-On 26/30 Frozen Service Case UPC 89439-XXXXX
  • Shrimp 26/30 Cooked Service Case UPC 89461-XXXXX
  • Shrimp Cooked 26/30 Seasoned Service Case UPC 98107-XXXXX
  • Shrimp Cocktail 26/30 UPC 99479-5XXXX
