You bet I do!  I always put salt on watermelon, cantaloupe and tomatoes.

Never put anything on cantaloupe. Interesting fact.

@candyagain  I used to do the same with apples.  I no longer eat apples or melon of any kind.

I still eat apples and watermelon. Can't digest cantaloupe anymore I've discovered. No salt on any fruit anymore tho"

I put lime juice on watermelon and black pepper on cantalope and lemon juice on honeydew.  No salt.  Just on cucumbers, tomatoes, avacado and potatoes.

Re: Salt On Watermelon

@ValuSkr

You stated that  "no one needs extra salt in their diet".  That's not uniformly true, apparently.

For years, blood tests have shown my sodium levels to be abnormally low.  This is an important electrolyte that we all need to some extent.

The doctor has routinely told me to "drink less water and eat more salt", even though he simultaneously prescribes  medication to lower my moderately high blood pressure.

Go figure.

My mom always added salt to watermelon and canteloupe, but I prefer those without it.

Love my watermelon plain and with seeds. Cat Very Happy

The so-called seedless ones have too many tiny white ones.

No salt on fruit for me thank you.

@kindred cats   Original watermelon with seeds was so flavorful.

It is too bad that it was messed with. Now, all I see is the "seedless" kind, which is not seedless. They are just smaller white seeds that are not as easy to remove as the big seeds were and I will not eat the seeds. These watermelons do not have the flavor of

the watermelons that we grew up with. Smiley Sad

I eat my cut up watermelon with crumbled feta cheese. I saw it in a magazine and thought that it was an odd combination. But, I tried it and it is good. Maybe because the feta is a little salty.

    Yes, any melon and tomatoes.

Salt takes away the sweetness of the watermelon. No reason to add sodium to a juicy sodium-free treat. I love watermelon.

I always put cinnamon on watermelon. I know it seems crazy but it’s delicious! Smiley Happy
