I just purchased some smoked paprika which I have never before used. Is there a special dish you like to use this in?

I have used plain paprika, but I have used it more for color than flavor and from what I have read, smoked paprika has a lot more punch.

So, can use a few new ideas.

TIA

@Flatbush    I just use it when paprika is called for in a recipe. It is very good and adds to good flavor.

Smoked paprika is the same as sweet paprika with the exception that it is smoked Whereas normal paprika is crushed dried chilies, smoked paprika uses chilies that are smoke-dried and then crushed. They are typically smoked with oak which leads to a strong outdoorsy flavor You can use it in any dish you would use sweet paprika in.  It is commonly used in Hungarian and Spanish dishes..but great on something as simple as deviled eggs.  Try it with a light hand at first.  I bet you will enjoy.

Always on potato salad and humus.  If you are a mac and cheese fan, it is a must.

Re: SMOKED PAPRIKA, WHAT NOW?

It's been around for a while and I too use it in place of the regular paprika. We use it on everything.  As others have suggested - Mac and cheese, eggs, potato and macaroni salads, deviled eggs, roasted potatoes, chicken dishes, stews, etc.  If anyone wants a little more smoky flavor to their food, they just sprinkle it on at the table. Love it.

OM gosh---that is my most fave seasoning and I use it alot. It is very good sprinkled on anything you are airfrying of sauteing as it gives the appearance of a nice brownish color like a really good sear on a piece of meat. I use it on fries that I airfry, eggs, in sauces as a decor for spud/pasta  salad, in salad dressings--- No there isn't a huge taste of the smoked flavor.

@Flatbush

In addition to deviled eggs I mostly use smoked paprika in spice rubs for meat.  Many rub recipes online, I typically use lots of smoked paprika, garlic and onion powder, thyme, basil and once tried adding a small amount of brown sugar.

Re: SMOKED PAPRIKA, WHAT NOW?

Ranked in my top 5 fav spices!!

Always in my chili

often in any tomato based soup or any dish that uses tomatoes (not spag sauce)

anything 'nacho'

on deviled eggs or any egg dish

Mixed w/ other seasonings as a dry rub on any meat that we are going to smoke

If the recipe says paprika, 9 times outta 10 I use smoked!

I always use it in bean and ham soup.
