I would appreciate recipes for Round Steak & gravy. I have my own but I am interested in other recipes. Thanks.

Mushroom Round Steak
1 1/2 lb round steak
6 oz fresh mushrooms rough cut
1/2 onion sliced in rounds
Garlic powder
In oven safe skillet, cook onions and mushrooms until wilted. Remove.
Pound round steak with flour and brown both sides in a small amount of oil.
Remove steak and stir in 2 cans of mushroom soup and about 2/3 can water. Add garlic powder to taste. Bring to bubbling.
Add steak, onions and mushrooms.
Bake 350 degrees, basting for an hour. (may need to add water)

I don't have an official recipe, but this is how I do it.
I use a Dutch Oven to cook mine. Salt, pepper and flour the meat and brown the steak or which ever cut of meat you choose.
I add small potatoes and sliced onions (lots) to the pot and add a bottle of chili sauce. The last time I did this I also added a can of diced tomatoes as well.
Boil and then simmer until the meat is fork tender and easily pulls apart. This can vary depending on the size of the meat cut.
I love this as is and don't thicken the meat sauce/juice. This has been a favorite since childhood and can be easily amended to what you have on hand.

@Katcat1 I find round steak to be terribly tough.the time I bought it,I marinated it,then grilled.

@Luvsmyfam You have to tenderize it. I recently purchased a new hand tenderizer from OXO. Round steak is good in gravy or a swiss steak with tomatoes and green pepper and you cook normally covered for one hour. Then it is so tender. Ribeye steak is great for the grill as it is very tender cut of meat but if you prefer more firm get a strip steak whhich is also tasty.

@ECBG Sounds really good, Try this sometime -- i can cream of mushroom soup, 1 envelope Lipton Onion soup mix. Salt and pepper your meat. You can add a little small onion cut up too. Brown your meat pieces (I cut my meat into serving sizes) in a little oil and add:
1 small can sliced mushroom
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 envelope Liption onion soup mix
1 can water
cover and simmer for 1 hour to 1-1/2 hour until meat is tender
check from time to time to see if you need a little more water
The combination of soups makes this a very tasty dish.

Looks really good but I use mostly fresh because I can't stand salt.
I wish I could get the 1 inch thick round steak I used to get!
