Oh no @ChiliPepper my friend, yours is so much better as those are my beloved Minions!

I just watched Despicable Me 2 last week and both of them still make me laugh out loud.  I really need to just break down and buy both of them already . . . Smiley Happy

Ok, here is my more in-depth recap of the job fair:

  • I have never seen so many older, white people in a room in a long time mixed in with a smattering of younger people.
  • There were far fewer people there than the last one I attended about six months ago so I think the job market around here is finally picking up.
  • It never ceases to amaze me how grateful people are when you come prepared and ready to do whatever it is you are looking to do like register, oy.
  • My heart breaks for young people these days.  I know the dress code has changed since I was that age but if you are going to bother to wear a tie at least have it cinched up to somewhere close to your chin.
  • In addition to the staffing firm, I spoke with the Chicago Tribune and a funeral/memorial company but neither was a fit for me.
  • The remainder of the jobs were strictly either tech or (yay!) manufacturing so again I think things are starting to look up around here.
  • The downside is some incredibly stupid person decided to go to Costco first to decrease the number of left hand turns she would have to make and her feet (which are used to wearing slides for the most part) were not happy about standing around for over an hour in various lines after hiking all over said Costco.
  • Costco needs to stock a huge bottle of ammonia as my pals the skunks have apparently decided to summer again with me and that ain't happening.  Tomorrow after Comcast leaves I am heading out to buy tennis balls and the biggest bottle of ammonia I can find.

Mustang,

Thanks for refreshing my memory on the saran wrap scene from Fried Green Tomatoes. I do vaguely remember that scene now and I can tell you where the wrapping-youself-in-plastic-wrap thing came from. It was suggested in a book written by Marabel Morgan called “The Total Woman.”

As I recall, Mrs. Morgan's husband had been feeling depressed due to stresses at work. She decided to think of something novel and unexpected that would cheer him up and let him know she was supporting him and loved him. Voila! The Wrapping-Yourself-in-Plastic-Wrap idea was born.

According to Mrs. Morgan, she dressed herself only in the plastic wrap when she greeted him at the door.  Aparently, her husband was greatly cheered up. (No details were given in the book.)

Not long after the book came out and shot to the top of the bestseller list, I also recall that someone wrote to either the Ann Landers or Dear Abby column giving women a warning if they decided to try this novel approach to encouraging one's husband.

One lady tried it and flung open her front door when she heard what she thought was her husband taking the mail out of the mailbox before he came in the house. Unfortunately, it was not her husband but the mail man who was at the front door. It was the mailman who was the unintended recipient of the aforementioned eyefull of the lady dressed (or undressed) in only plastic wrap.

I'm wearing my interview underwear in solidarity with you today.

VaBelle,

You cracked me up with this one!  Let's all join VaBelle in supporting mtc today. Get our those Lucky Panties, Kitchenettes!

In case you do not own a pair of lucky panties yet, I found some on sale on ebay:

The thing that is nice about them is that they can serve dual duty and be used on any Irish special day. It just doesn't get any better than that.

How very interesting!!

It certainly does seem that things are picking up.

To me, it also seems the indication of 'mature' job seekers may mean living on SS and retirement is an incredibly hard thing to do, and they need back in the job field.

OR retirement is incredibly BORING!

Re: Quick Pot Sticker Soup

[ Edited ]

Respect,

I was unclear what plastic wrapping thing are you planning to do tonight? Was it wrapping the plastic wrap around the head, the end of your bananas, or all over? Inquiring minds want to know.

All those salad and dressing recipes look AMAZING! And right in time for warmer days. Once again, you hit one out of the park.
