Thanks for reminding me about the wine. I still have a splash of red left from the pot roast ;o)
Poor @VaBelle35 !!
It seems like the conference call was more PAINFUL than your eyes!
A well deserved glass (or two) of wine for YOU!

Ok, a TRUE Southerner can probably find us an authentic peach cobbler recipe LOL!!!

You so make me SMILE!! There is no end to the blessings! $5.03 ahead of the game and day two under your belt!
Sometimes I feel the 'unders' just don't have the work ethic or determination that we have. Our parents instilled the value of working hard into us. I sure hope I did the same for my kids! We all have to earn our way...work for it! There is such an attitude of entitlement in some generations.
My dad never liked being a welder yet got up at the crack of dawn everyday to support his family. My DH is SO blessed with doing EXACTLY what he dreamed of doing for all these years. Others of us, including myself and my kids...are not so fortunate as to have found our career choice....but we work hard!
I wouldn't be surprised if more 'overs' than 'unders' stick out the training! But I know you will cuz you is FABULOUS!!

mtc, is that wine for drinking or cooking?
Geeez, I don't remember seeing wine at any of our stores. I wonder if ours sell it.
Oh gesh, never mind - I'm thinking Aldis not TJ's.
Duh Chili!
Here in western NY, no type of grocery store (Wegmans, Aldis, Trader, Sams) is allowed to sell liquor or wine. Only beer (and those funny combos these days...like hard lemonade or root beers)
It may be a state wide thing. My guess would be yes, unless it is just our counties.
The liquor stores lobby hard and have been successful at keeping that law.

I meant to talk to you about Canei! So funny you mentioned it! In our younger days, it was our wine of choice cuz it is sweet and kinda cheap! LOL Sorta Boones Farmish! LOL
I wouldn't cook with it though! If you want...I can give you the names of the red and white I use to cook with. Of course, you can use anything....but I buys these all the time for cooking.
They are reasonably priced and easy to find. Don't ask me the names now...LOL...I can't remember! ha ha!
Ok, well if I can't cook with it I guess I'm gonna have to drink it!!!!
Drink away, my friend! A toast to you!!
Did you ever try the Peach? DH used to love that!
That is HILARIOUS!!!
You are posting about peaches at the same time I am posting about peaches LOL!!!!!!!
No, I haven't tried the peach. I love peaches but am unusually not crazy about peach flavored things if you know what I mean.
But, I'm willing to take one for the Team LOL!!!!

I have never heard of the wine you referred to but have heard and partook of Boone's Farm back in the day. Are any of you familiar with Annie Greensprings? Very much like Boone's Farm. Both popular with the hippy groups back in the late '60's and early '70's. And I agree, neither would be good for cooking! I believe both are apple based wines and very sweet. But the memories of strawberry wine......!

I never heard of Annie Greensprings but Boones Farm was all we could afford back then! lol

Respect, it MAY be by County because our local WMs I know carry wine.
I just never looked while I was at Aldi's so they may, I just never saw it. It is doubtful however because, if we are not pressed for time, we go up & down every aisle & take a quick look at everything. I'm pretty sure I would have seen it if it was there.
I KNOW WM caries it though because I have bought it there.

Peach Cobbler Day, you say??
Okay....I got some recipes to share!!
04-13-2016 09:10 AM
Actually, kinda funny that Peach Cobbler Day is in April when it isn't even Peach Season!
Well, maybe down by @Honeybit....but in Western New York it is late Aug./Sept!
PEACH COBBLER CHEESECAKE
for the cheesecake filling
4 8 0z cream cheese,
1 1/2 c brown sugar,
1 c white sugar
1 c sour cream
1 tsp peach flavoring instead of vanilla,.( you can get the peach flavoring at a candy making supply store.)
6 eggs
for the crust
i use keebler graham cracker crumbs,
to one box i add 1 cup of sugar and 1 1/2 sticks melted butter.
combine thoroughly press onto bottom of a 10 inch springform pan, there will be left over crumbs for another use.
for the struesel topping
1 c quick oats
1 c flour
1 c brown sugar
1 stick cold butter cut in small chunks.
for the peach filling,
1 can peach pie filling and 1 can sliced peaches drained,
combine peaches and 1 tsp. corn starch that has been dissolved in cold water. add 1/2 cup sugar ,bring to a boil until thick and bubbly
set aside to cool so you can add it to the cheesecake filling later.
now to put it all together.
i make crust first and press onto bottom of pan,
then combine soft cream cheese with the eggs then add sugar and peach flavoring instead of vanilla,
into the prepared crust i pour 1/2 cheesecake filling and then add peaches you won't need them all just cover the top of the filling
then add rest of cheesecake filling.
on top of that i add the strusel topping. ( to make strusel combine cold butter to flour sugar and oats until crumbly)
bake at 350 for about 90 minutes.
tip of mine #1 place a 9 x 13 pan of water on the bottom rack of your oven moisture helps cheesecake not to crack. # 2 don't usu a dark pan use a lighter silver springform, the darker one tends to burn crust. cool in fridge at least 6 hours.

Peach Cobbler Cocktail
Servings: 1
Ingredients:
Crushed ice
2 to 2-1⁄2 ounces rye whiskey
2-1⁄2 ounces peach nectar
1 dash bitters
5 slices frozen peaches (wedges, halved)
3 - 4 fresh mint leaves, roughly chopped
1 lemon wedge
Directions:
Fill a large wine goblet with crushed ice.
Gently muddle the rye, peach nectar, dash of bitters, peaches, mint, and a squeeze of lemon juice in a cocktail shaker.
Pour over ice and serve cold.
Note: At first, the rye can pack a real punch; as the ice and fruit melt, they mellow it into a wonderful summer drink.
