Happy Thanksgiving K-Team!

Hope you all have a blessed day even if things do look a little different this year.  We are still standing.

I have gotten some bad news - in the last 24 hours I have found out that our oldest DD's S.O.'s daughter has covid and tonight I found out  Brother Mustang now is covid positive as well.  He is not doing well; the extended family granddaughter is doing ok-just feels incredibly tired and is running a fever.  She says she feels like she has a really bad sinus infection but her covid test was positive so we know it is more than sinus.

Everyone stay safe, stay warm, stay comfortable.  Enjoy your day tomorrow no matter what it ends up being.  I'm just thankful you all are still here.  Bless you all.  Heart

Dear Mustang,

I was so sorry to hear that your oldest daughter's SO's daughter, the extended family granddaughter, and your dear brother have tested positive for or actually have Covid.  We will be praying for all of them and the extended family and friends as well.

Happy Thanksgiving Eve everyone

Many blessings to everyone here (posters and readers alike) and extra special prayers for Brother Mustang and Martha.

I braved the wind to get my turkey on Monday.  The smallest they had were 13 lbs so I will have to manage with aluminum foil on my roasting pan this year.  He comes in a cute little box with a meat thermometer and all his innerds wrapped separately in meat paper.

He should have been driven here and arrived on a red carpet with what he cost.  LOL  Normally I don't pay attention as it's embedded with the rest of my shopping but this was the only thing I had to get so she rang it up, snapped her head up to look at me and then said out loud how much is was.  I had to go lay down on the couch for a while after I got home.  LOL  Luckily for me I got a nice bonus last Friday for saving the company a large sum of money, so I'm still ahead of the game.

The weather is supposed to be nice tomorrow afternoon, so I may be able to go to my sister's house for dessert and sit outside on the deck for a bit and visit.

We have a family video call set up for the evening, so I will have to get dressed either way tomorrow.  I was hoping to not have to worry about that.

I hope everyone has a wonderful day tomorrow.  I'll let you know if we have a special delivery.

VaBelle,

I bet that will be some delicious turkey at the heart-stopping price you had to pay for it.  You'll be glad you got it, I'm sure.

We usually get a Mary's organic turkey breast (which we order in October from a specialty grocery store in Dallas).  This year  they had a smaller than usual allotment and were sold out in October.  Since we don't go out as often to that grocery store as we used to (especially because it is in Dallas where the Covid cases have skyrocketed), we missed out on the pre-order.

Instead I got a small (4+ pounds) turkey breast (O brand Organics) at a local grocery store.  Since I usually cook everything ahead of time, I roasted it yesterday in the oven.  It did get done but wasn't very tender.  I took as much meat off the bone as possible and put it into my Instant Pot for one poultry cycle.  After that, it still was tough, so I put it through yet another cooking cycle and let it sit in the IP overnight.  Today, it is more tender, but simply not the best turkey I have ever made.

I know you are looking forward to welcoming the Little Arrival for Thanksgiving.

mtc,

I absolutely LOVE that sculpture.  What I want to know is how she assembled the thing.  She's got to know somebody who has a crane.

@Writer with Flair

Well you certainly had an excellent idea putting the meat in the IP to try and tender it up! That piece of bird gave you a run for it!!

We were one of the few that could Not find a bigger bird! We wanted 15 lbs, but only got 11.

It was delicious in the smoker, but only the legs and wings left to make soup. We had 6 adults and it wasn't big enuf I guess!

I baked a huge ham to go with it, now I have a Lot of leftover ham but no turkey!

Re: @Re: Quick Pot Sticker Soup

No Black Friday stores for me, but the news said there were some ppl out. Mostly waiting in line for game systems of which the stores had maybe 6.

I did shop online for a couple more toys. After wrapping, I had a giant pile for my granddaughter and 4 for my Grandson!

He is only a baby but that is just not fair as kids would say! Lol

Mimi had to fix that!

Otherwise, all wrapped and ready to go.

I use paper for the kids so they have the fun of ripping it open.

Adults get Kringle gift bags! Easy peasy!
