@momtochloe wrote:Hey @tiny 2 , haven't seen you on the boards for a while and hope you are safe and doing well. Gosh I know the holidays are challenging enough but please know you are in our thoughts my friend and hope all is well . . .
Thank you @momtochloe. I am doing ok. I lost one of my kitties. She died in my arms Friday morning and I really have been so very upset.
I am trying to do some Thanksgiving preparations. I am making some food for my family even though I will not be able to join them. I have been cooking the very large 16-30 people dinners for so long. I had my IV today so there is no way I can be with them even though it will only be 8 this year. We are all trying to be safe an stay at home. Hopefully next year we will be together again. I am going to have some nice food and hope there will be some good Christmas movies on and of course visit on the phone.
Dear tiny 2,
I am so sorry that you lost one of your beloved kitties. Precious furbabies are treasured members of our families. Hugs ( ( ( ) ) ) and prayers are going out your way, dear friend.
It must be good to have your IV done before the rush of the holidays.
You are wise to be staying home to be safe--especially since your immune system is so vulnerable after just having had your IV.
I know you and your family will enjoy all that delicious food you are preparing and everyone will look forward to getting together next year.
Enjoy the wonderful food you are making and some great Christmas movies. Do you have any favorites?
We also enjoy listening to Christmas music as I prepare food, we decorate the house, do Christmas cards, or wrap presents. Those old favorites of really get us into the Christmas spirit.

@momtochloe wrote:Good morning Kitchenettes, happy I Am Trying to Defrost the Turkey Am I doing it right Tuesday my friends . . .
mtc,
I like where you are going with that idea for defrosting a turkey. You are to be commended for your "out of the box" thinking. "Necessity is the mother of invention," as Plato said.
A blow torch might also work (see picture below).

I wouldn't necessarily try a blow torch inside--but, that's just me. I think I would feel more comfortable nearer a garden hose in case any unanticipated little mishap occurred.
If I still had that portable bonnet blow dryer that I used to dry my "orange-juice-can-roller-coiffure", I might try that apparatus. That elastic bonnet set-up could possibly work if you had a smaller turkey or a double breast.
My portable bonnet dryer ran so quietly that I often fell asleep with it running.
HELFPUL HINT: Just be sure to set a timer, if you decide to go that route (and can find a working bonnet dryer) so you do not dry out your turkey.
By the way, check out the price of that dryer. $26.95!" Boy, those were the days!

HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!! On @Writer with Flair weren't those drying bonnets just the best? Oh gosh that gentle warming on your cold noggin with those soggy rollers until things finally balanced themselves out and then at the end you were poking your fingers through said bonnet so your scalp wouldn't fry . . . ah memories! ![]()

Oh, mtc! You take me back to the "good old days." What we endured for beauty's sake! I found that if I rotated the bonnet so that the heat from the hose progressively got moved around my head, I experienced less "burn."
I had such long hair in those days that it took a long time for it to dry. God bless whoever invented the higher wattage handheld blow dryer. I got untold hours of my life back when I started blow drying my hair instead of sitting in that bonnet thingie (or under the stand dryer my mother had).

mtc,
Did you ever use foam rollers?

I must have been a restless sleeper because a lot of them came out at night--even if I wore a triangular hair net tied tightly in the back.

Hello Kitchenettes!
It's been a busy few weeks what with our grandson's football schedule and the holidays.
We had our family Thanksgiving dinner this past Sunday. We all had a great time but I feel we may not be able to gather for a Christmas celebration. Covid numbers are raising in our area and both IL and MO governors are tightening the leashes. But am happy we got some time with our grandson. He will be with his dad over Thanksgiving Day and weekend, thus our early celebration.
Just wanted to stop by and tell everyone very happy and peaceful as well has healthy holiday celebration! So happy to have this Soup family! Bless you all. ![]()

Hugs and heartfelt prayers for you dear friend! I'm so sorry to hear about your kitty!
I pray you will feel not like yourself everyday after your treatment!
That is so sweet of you to cook for them! It will make them feel like you are with them as they enjoy your dish!

Not only do I remember sponge curlers, I still have them! Lol
Don't ask me why they made the last move!
My hair is way longer than it should be on an old lady but I thought I might use them again to curl the ends. I haven't! Lol

Today is prep and pie day.
Then tomorrow I will cook fresh. Our numbers have declined for dinner. One friend started a new immunology regime for her cancer and Doc said no. Two others just cancelled yesty. He has cold symptoms. Doubts it is covid since he always works from home but doesn't want to get anyone else sick.
So just my kids and one guest.
We are thankful everyday for the blessings we receive and I personally am thankful for my 'girl's here!
You all keep me going everyday!
Happy Thanksgiving K Team!!!!
