Yawp! -- I've got company coming the middle of November so I'm on a mission to get all the things done in my house that haven't been done in all these months while I was "laid up." I'm trying to do it in nibble-sized sections a little bit each day and hope to make it all come out even by November 16. First step is finding a home for all the accumulated clutter that has been waiting "until I felt like" finding it a home. Once clutter finds itself a place, it becomes almost impossible to dislodge it.
We're still having record high temperatures here (forecast for Halloween to break a record set back in 1961) but at least the highs are in the 80's now and not in the 90's.
Hurray for the Holidays -- Publix has their Decadent Pumpkin Bars back in their Bakery again. Unlike most people, I've only ever met two pumpkin desserts I like -- those bars and a two-layer pumpkin pie I had years (and years) ago at a co-worker's Halloween Party. Recently I was browsing a community cookbook from my most recent round of Book Fairs and spotted the recipe below. It's from the right era, so this may be IT.
DOUBLE LAYER PUMPKIN PIE
4 ounces PHILADELPHIA BRAND Cream Cheese, softened
1 tablespoon milk or half-and-half
1 tablespoon sugar
1-1/2 cups thawed COOL WHIP Whipped Topping
1 KEEBLER Ready-Crust Graham Cracker Pie Crust (6 ounces)
1 cup cold milk or half-and-half
2 packages (4-serving size) JELL-O Vanilla Flavor Instant Pudding and Pie Filling
1 can (16 ounces) pumpkin
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
MIX cream cheese, 1 tablespoon milk and sugar in large bowl with wire whisk until smooth. Gently stir in whipped topping. Spread on bottom of crust.
POUR 1 cup milk into bowl. Add pudding mix. Beat with wire whisk 1 to 2 minutes or until well blended. (Mixture will be thick.)
STIR in pumpkin and spices with wire whisk; mix well. Spread over cream cheese layer. Refrigerate at least 3 hours or until ready to serve. Garnish as desired. Makes 8 servings
OR TRY
JELL-O Brand Sugar Free Instant Pudding and Pie Filling in this recipe. Prepare as directed, using 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon and 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger. Omit cloves. Substitute 4 ounces Light PHILADELPHIA BRAND Neufchatel Cheese for the cream cheese and 1 can (12 ounces) evaporated skim milk for the milk. Use COOL WHIP Lite Whipped Topping.

P.S. Don't forget to look for those fancy new flavors of Candy Corn from Brach's that we talked about last year. One was a Caramel Macchiatto and the other was a Salted Chocolate (something) -- chocolate candy corn which has a white tip that is a little bit salty.

I made it to Target to get the last of what I need for our Pumpkin Decorating Party and Veterans Day.
She says that knowing she still really really really wants to find small potted mums or some other flower for the tables.
Because once she gets an idea in her head, she can't let it go. LOL
Seriously, I went to 4 stores because I really wanted Tootsie Pops for Monday's party and they only had the mini ones. I wanted the full size ones. Wegmans had small bags, so I bought 4 of those and 2 bags of Blow Pops.
I sent WC#1 an email today to let him know that I am bringing my own cameras in for the event because I cannot deal with the company camera issues. Hopefully it won't be a big deal to use it in the non-company area.
We are collecting toiletries for comfort kits for the VA hospital, so I wanted to get nice baskets for that. Target has nice ones in blue and white and I found another type of red basket. The good thing is we can use these for military apprecation day in May and 4th of July. Plus, we can use them separately for other events that aren't red/white/blue. Our company color is blue, so blue and white work for most events.
You know I'm overthinking these things when I spend 10 minutes trying to decide how to fold the note cards we bought to write notes to soldiers. LOL
I need a life.

Which fish recipe are you gonna try my friend?
Good morning @ChiliPepper I am going to make that Baked Honey Marinated Cod recipe. Tuesday is the last day of the sale so I'll shoot over to the store then (unless I decide I didn't buy enough Halloween candy).
Right now in the pressure cooker I have another cut of that beef I bought on sale with a can of cream of mushroom soup and some canned mushrooms (gotta use up that pantry). I can't imagine how it is going to turn out but I'll eat it however it turns out but I have to say it's giving off a good whiff . . . ![]()
And oh goodness those slippers! . . . it's so funny that you mention wearing pj's as I actually had a surreal moment in the store as for a split second I freaked out that I still had my jammies on too! . . . oy, what a trip that was (in more ways than one) but I did give the young man checking my out and the other young man bagging my groceries a good laugh out loud so there's that . . . tee hee!

@VaBelle35 I think this it's so fabulous all the work you do to make those get togethers such a great success and a tribute to our brave soldiers. I worked for a company that was involved with our armed services and I always brought in tons of stuff from Costco when they would have their annual holiday drives. The fact that you pay such close attention to detail says volumes about you and your character . . . bless you my friend! . . . ![]()

@Honeybit I am so glad you are on the mend and are looking forward to having company but I do have to ask how does The Most Fabulous Yazzy feel about strange folks in his house? . . . tee hee, just kidding I am just glad you are finally feeling better and will be able to fully enjoy the upcoming holiday season . . . ![]()
