Has anyone actually had a Wiener Schnitzel?

I never have...I guessing it isn't made out of hotdogs?   LOL

Did anyone ever make them from scratch?

@RespectLife

I have had pork schnitzel but not wiener schnitzel.  It is made with veal.  Schnitzel is a way of cooking a piece of meat-usually pounded thin, breaded, and fried.  Aldi's sells the pork ones during their German fest in the freezer case.  They were quite good.  That may be coming up in October, but not sure.

Oh man @ChiliPepper

Those are FAB!  Who has a steady hand to dip all those ends!  The lines are perfect  between  colors.

@ChiliPepper @RespectLife

See that's my question.  How did they get the outside of the white to be so perfectly striped yet it didn't bleed into the inside?  Chili, I remember my mom giving me the stink eye if I indicated I was not interested in eating a purple egg (oh on second thought, maybe I am) but gosh how did they get that beautiful striping?

How different @ChiliPepper   that soup is!

Never seen anything like it!

I have put pepperoni in soup....but never salami.  Those do look like salami chunks...very similar to the thick pepperoni chunks I have used.

Hey!  Isn't that Sofrito the tomato based stuff @momtochloe recently got?

I could take a run at this for the fun of it...but by time I sub out what I don't like or have....it would be my same old soup probably!   LOL

Copied just in case, thanks!

Yep @RespectLife , that sofrito base is delicious.  Highly recommend.  I think I would take a run at this but the olives and me . . . not so much . . . Smiley Sad

Hee @RespectLife  , I had to go look it up myself.  I guess the Austrians are fiercely protective of their Wiener Schnitzel (has to be made with veal) so I think most dishes use the term Schnitzel and insert your own protein into the title.

My mom used to make breaded pork cutlets, they were delicious!

So good morning Kitchenettes, happy Souper Saturday to one and all! Heart

It's a gorgeous day here today and I just pulled some BBQ chicken wings out of the air fryer . . . gonna get my BBQ on this weekend!

Oh and speaking of air fryers, @tiny 2  my friend, I know you have to watch your diet until your digestive track heals up but as I cannot convince you to pry open that Instant Pot, I would highly recommend you give air frying a try.  I have one of those two drawer Ninja models which I at first thought would be overboard for just me but gosh I love that thing!  Cooks food beautifully and the clean up is a breeze.  I also realize this piece of information would have been much more useful when it was the TSV . . . Smiley Embarassed

Hope you continue to be on the mend and that your recent transfusion has provided you with some well earned relief.  I wish you all a wonderful and blessed weekend . . . Heart

@momtochloe

Okay, then I have had pork schnitzels a LOT cuz how @mustang66lady described them is how gram made her cutlets ALL the time.  Just like your mom!

She never called them Schnitzel though!  She said breaded pork cutlets just like you said!

Okay, take me off the Wiener Schnitzel parade...I don't do veal.  I may grind hot dogs though!   hee hee
