HEY, I lost power with the ice. The other thing that happened the night before was I wanted to take a nice hot tub bath. There was no hot water so I go down to check and there is water everywhereWoman Surprised. It was around 10 pm and I was too tired to deal with all of it so I called my plumber and he came and shut down the gas and cut off the water. I had managed to wet vac much of it by the time he got here. He took a hose and emptied the heater. It was so cold with the house open so I was glad it was over. Now I only have cold water and I am boiling water on the stove for baths. Then came the ice and booming transformers.Woman Mad

I met with the contractor yesterday about pulling the carpeted areas of the townhouse and replacing with wood floors. Waiting to hear if he can do it in time. Closing on this house is 1-28-22. Woman Surprised Tomorrow I am going over to the new place to soak in a hot bath until I am wrinkled.( hot water there.)Woman Very Happy LOL

Oh jeepers @tiny 2  !!

I am praying for the day when NOTHING goes wrong for you!  Just TOO much!

Was it your water heater that gave out?  That happened to us at the old house....what a mess!!

We were lucky that this storm hit when our temps were up.....2 days after we were under 5 degrees.

Haven't heard of anyone having pipes freezing and not too many power outages.  They didn't make the news anyways.

You take a nice LONG hot soaker!  Pretty soon, things should all be better and the only thing you will have to worry about is dinner!

@RespectLife, Yes, It was the hot water heater. I have heard about this but never experienced it before. The water heater in the new place is in the garage in its own little house, so if it happens there it will be running down the driveway.

I think that is better than running on your floor!

We have had 3 houses....went through 2 hot water heaters in the 2nd house.

Luckily, DH knows how to replace them!

What a mess though, I feel your pain!

Yes, I am relieved that the hot water heater is outside the area that can do damage.

The new flooring install is starting today. The contractor came by last night. They were working on a house nearby with lots of water damage.

I ended up deciding to rip out everything. We could not match the existing wood floor close enough not to cause me angst. We came very close with one but they did not have enough to do the whole project and did not know when there would be more. I ended up with a deeper darker floor which I had admired the looks of for some time and I prefer it. I am plenty excited.

We are expecting more weather with some snow but here there is usually ice and power issues. ugh cold water ugh ugh ugh!!!

That sounds beautiful @tiny 2

I know it would bug me if the match was 100% perfect!

Can you post pictures when it is done?

We have been in the neg degrees since Friday....hitting low teens by mid day...but then right back down!

I thought my car was nuts when it showed -13 Saturday early morning!

WOOF!  That's cold!

Oh gosh @tiny 2 , I lost a hot water heater at my mom's house but was lucky I noticed the small leak almost immediately (ok, it was a little hard to miss as I had to trot through it on my way to the garage) but when they go that's a lot of clean up.  Are things on track for finalizing the sale?  Please tell me it's all systems are go so you can take hot baths at your leisure (when I first moved here the hot water heater didn't work (long story).  It took a while to find someone to come and fix it and not charge me what I paid for the condo itself.  People kept asking me "how can you shower without hot water" and my reply always was . . . .quickly . . . .  Smiley WinkSmiley Very Happy

Happy Tuesday Kitchenettes, hope all is well with you and yours in this chaotic weather . . . Heart

Things have been very quiet here.  We have been lucky to dodge all of the severe weather that has impacted so many people.  I giggled to myself as we in the western suburbs of Chicago got a bit of snowy weather and folks are acting like they learned to drive in the south . . . people please, calm down (says the princess from her balcony)!

I would love to post Aldi finds but frankly it is clear their supply chains have taken a definite hit so there just hasn't been much worth wandering over there for.  My grocery tip for the day is *broccoflower* . . . I ran across it when ordering this weeks groceries and it is delicious and strangely well priced.  It's a blend of cauliflower and broccoli and for me brings the best of both together.  Next week I am going to try Chinese broccoli, I'll let you know how that goes if it shows up.

@tiny 2  thinking of you my friend as you complete the sale of your beloved house and move into your new townhouse.  May the banking and hot water Gods be with you my friend . . . Heart
