re Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

I make Ina's recipe.  For my BIL, I leave out the pecans and just sub more raisins for them because he likes the traditional oatmeal raisin.  And I also left out the pecans for the County Fair because it had to be just oatmeal raisin (the first time I entered them they left me a note on my tag about the use of pecans disqualified them).

When I make them for work, I add the pecans.

re Kitchen Sink Cookies

These apparently go by different names.

I make this one (and it won first place in the County Fair for me):

Well if you're cleaning, you are making wise time with the weather because you sure can't do too much of anything else!  I cleaned our "self cleaning" oven today.  That feature went out long before we bought the house and of course, nothing on that stupid oven is broken enough that I can convince DH that it needs to be replaced and updated!  I didn't really think the oven was as bad as it  was but got proved wrong.  Woman Surprised   How are the plans to sell the house and progress to a condo coming along?

@mustang66lady my friend's husband is coming over tomorrow to begin the appraisal process on the house and figure out what I can expect and what I can afford.  I honestly don't understand any of the paperwork he has sent me from sales around the area as I would guess at least 90% of them have had remodeling so I know I will be on the very low end but that's ok.  I just want to get out of here.

Ina's recipe looks really good, too.  Mrs. Brown's recipe was just a simple oatmeal raisin cookie but was soft and tender to bite.  I don't remember any cinnamon taste to it.  I have made lots of recipes for plain oatmeal raisin cookies but none taste like hers.  As I have gotten older, I wonder if she rehydrated the raisins before tossing them in the batter?  Of course, she passed decades ago and if some of the women still alive at our church do not have her recipe, I will never know.  I can't remember anything distinctive about the taste-no outstanding flavors like nuts, spices, etc would impart.  They were just simple and delicious.

Best wishes on your appraisal run thru.  Like you, I believe we will be on the short end and I think it will surprise DH.  If there is one thing we cannot agree on, it is updating the house.  We have put on a new roof because of hail damage, added a heat pump when the boiler on the hot water heater went out although we replaced that as well.  We replaced many windows and a couple of doors, and we have put hardwood flooring in two rooms and vinyl flooring that looks like ceramic in our kitchen and half bath.  It sounds like a lot but we have a huge house.  I told him replacing the roof was maintenance as was replacing the boiler of the hot water heater.  We added the heat pump to the 2nd  floor as the rooms up there were heated by individual heaters built into the walls.  DH was worried the girls would set the house on fire! Woman Surprised  So other than the flooring and upgrading some of the windows and doors, we have done no upgrades in the almost 14 years we have lived here.  My master bath has PINK toilet and sink!  UGGHH!  The bath in the basement that was destroyed by the collapse of the sewer has a blue toilet and sink!  The bath on the 2nd floor has white fixtures and the half bath on the main floor has almond.  That's just the beginning.  Oy!   I have a feeling he is in for an extremely rude awakening.

@Writer with Flair

Did you see there is a new episode of Scorpion on tonight?  I didn't get back to you the other day and didn't think of it until tonight; you asked about Ray.  YESSS!   I do wish they would bring him back. I keep thinking in my mind, the way they wrote him out, it was not a definitive write out-like they left the door open and we might see him again.  It's time!  Maybe Ray and Paige's grifter Mom would be good together?!   Would make an interesting plot or two - guess I better leave it to the writers as obviously I wouldn't make a living writing!

I know @mustang66lady.  The good news is the house is structurally in good shape.  The roof is relatively new and it was taken down to the base so that's good for a while.  New furnace and new water heater.  Hand laid, hardwood floors throughout the house and newer front and back doors.  Bad news, that's it.  My guess is a contractor will buy it like they did next door.

Good news is I'm not looking for much in a new house for me.  Like I said, I would just like all of this to be done.  I'm terrible like that, once I pull the trigger I want to GO . . . Smiley Happy
