It is Thursday...and I am THANKFUL!  Not so much for the cold and the rain...but for blessings all around!

I got our project manager out the door  a bit ago w/ a 4 mil bid for a road project.  I doubt we will get it...but we try!!  They open the bids on public projects pretty fast and I haven't heard from him yet...which isn't a good sign.  Could also be cuz he had about 4 hours sleep in 4 days getting this bid ready and he is passed out cold somewhere!

I just wish they would give me more than 15 mins. to total up 27 pages with 20 line items per page!

I sure don't want to be the one that makes an adding error and messes it up!

mtc, My Good Woman,

That Baked Fish with the Lemon Cream Sauce sounds delicious.   I am so making that!

As suggested, I will switch out the cream for evaporated milk.  I do that a lot for sauces.
I will probably try making it with chicken, too.

Love that is is a one dish thing saving on cleanup time.  Yeah!

     Thanks so much for sharing.

That's a really good suggestion!  I never seem to use evaporated milk...no particular reason.

Do you do this to save fat and calories?

I envy you and other areas that get to vote early.  I don't understand early voting at all...why some areas get to...and others don't!  I wish I could vote early as ours is always lined up outside the door no matter what type of election!  Takes forever!  Of course, and I mean NO disrespect...but the volunteers inside are on an average 104 yrs. old and take FOREVER to find your name in the dumb book, hand you the paper ballot etc.

I shouldn't say anything....I will be 104 soon.....

We haven't heard from our dear friend @novamc1 in a while, have we?

I'm guessing she is on her way to her new home in sunny and warm GA?  I sure hope all goes well with the move and can't wait to hear all the details!

@novamc1   We are all thinking about ya!

@RespectLife I have never voted early (although I would request an absentee ballot for my mom) but I just wanted to get this over with.  I am so sorry that the voting process isn't consistent throughout our 50 states but I guess it is what it is.  My concern this year is that I finally got around to changing my name on my voter's registration to my married name and wanted to make sure the paperwork was processed properly (which is stupid since I received my updated card but I can be finicky at times).

The folks that were there today were more middle age (you know, my age Smiley Happy) but were friendly and helpful.  I was probably out of there in less than 5 minutes.  When I vote on the actual day, that is when I run into more elderly voter helpers and going through that book of names can be maddenly when there are a ton of people there (even though I get there extremely early).  I don't know if the whole state has changed but there was no "book 'o voters" to comb through as it was all online.

Yep @ChiliPepper Illinois has had early voting for quite some time.  Like today I just wanted to get it over with but I would more than appreciate it if I was squeezed for time and an opportunity to vote presented itself.

I was just more amazed by the electronic voting as I had never done that before.  It must be tough on older folks, I wonder if they have an option for them to use a physical ballot as I could easily see less technical folks perhaps getting confused.

Now for mtc's lunch update . . . the beef tomato sauce concoction was a success . . . a piece of beef, can of tomato sauce, some spices and a bay leaf . . . . not too shabby . . . and ps, I love that InstantPot . . . Smiley Happy

Please know when my mom would make it, it would involve no less than 24 hours of preparation . . . not exactly like mom's but I'll take it!

@momtochloe    YUMMY!  a warm lunch of something would be delicious on this wooly day!

I'm not sure if it was across state or not, but a couple years ago we switched from the machines where you flip the lever to DUMB paper ballots!

You have to get the ballot and a marker...WAIT for a 'secret' station to color in your circles....and then feed it into the machine ....and hope it accepts it!  Lines for everything!

Last year the lines for the marking stations were so long...I just started marking it on my purse and got yelled at!  LOL  ...LOUDLY!  I told her I don't care who sees who I am voting for...but was admonished NOT to do this and WAIT!

The machine spits out more papers than it eats...as it is difficult to tell which way to feed it in!  And if the markings aren't clear enough...it rejects and you have to look for a circle not completely filled in!

IMHO it is the STUPIDEST change!  I could just see the potential for..."Was the circle fully colored in?"  "If not...what was the 'intent' of the coloring?".   LOL  Remember hanging chads?

You can't mess up a lever!

@ChiliPepper   Did you switch to paper too?
