It's 30 days until Thanksgiving.
I haven't seen any Turkeys in the stores yet. I am already scouring for my baby organic turkey.

mtc, My Good Woman,
That Baked Fish with the Lemon Cream Sauce sounds delicious. I am so making that!
As suggested, I will switch out the cream for evaporated milk. I do that a lot for sauces.
I will probably try making it with chicken, too.
Love that is is a one dish thing saving on cleanup time. Yeah!
Thanks so much for sharing.

Chili,
I am so sorry you lost your work friend. Having a good friend at work can be such a blessing. Major bummer!
Hopefully, she will find a job that she likes quickly--at least that is my prayer for her. Be sure to keep us posted so we will know how to pray.

CHRISTMAS
IS
LESS THAN
2 MONTHS
AWAY!
I think I am in shock! For some reason it seems to be coming faster this year! I kind of feel like a deer in headlights! I guess because it has stayed so green and so warm here. It is really just begining to look like fall a little here. Most trees are still green and hanging on to their leaves.

Mustang,
Thanks so much for the reminder about Christmas. Where has this year gone? It really has flown by.

Thanks mtc. Seriously, I - don't like them/they don't like me/I don't have time for/I can't be bothered with - too many people so when I "click" it's good!
No more friends at work for me!!!
I follow the Tony Kornheiser (of ESPNs PTI) advice:
Find the smartest (best, talented, respected, etc.) people in the room/company and surround youself with them.
Everyone else is just elevator conversation.
That is probably sound advice but I tend to attract &/or be attracted to the quirky, off the wall people. The odd balls, the rebels.
Sigh....
What does that say about me huh LOL???
@ChiliPepper my friend, as it has been my role to create and nurture teams I have often been tasked with blending in the off the wall people but to the be honest, once you get to know them and embrace their idiosyncrasies they usually are the most creative and productive of the team . . . bless you my friend . . . ![]()

When researching onboading and retention last year, we found several studies that show employees who have a friend at work tend to be more engaged, have higher attendance and stay in a job longer. That has been the basis of our employee engagement program this year. This is the basis for our new hire gatherings. We're trying to stop our turnover rate in the 1-3 year range. We're trying to help our new hires find friends in the building.
In contrast, we are working on a situation where we have a person who is not social and doesn't talk to people at all. He's been with us about 5 years. I wrote him off several years ago as a loner and didn't think too much of it. He doesn't talk at all to anyone (in fact, when they asked me about him in the investigation, I had to say that in all of the times I've seen him (and I pass him about 20 times a day when I am in the office), I have never seen him talk to another human ever, I have never seen him go into his manager's office (she sits next to me) and I've never seen him anywhere but in his cube, the kitchen or by the copier. He doesn't return a smile, doesn't return a hello. I noticed he lost a lot of weight in the last year, I almost didn't recognize him when I saw him after being out of the office for a few months. It didn't change his personality though. His team has changed in the last few years and is now mostly young women who are very bubbly outgoing. He does not fit in anymore. He is maybe in his 30s. Of course, he's not happy about the fact that people are now complaining that he isn't friendly. Personally, if the dude is getting his job done well, who cares if he's not interested in chatting about babies and husbands and vacations? *I* am not interested in chatting about those things with my team either.
I'm interested to see how this situation ends.
Anyway, I have delayed getting dressed for work. I have a meeting at 10, so I should get a move on it. LOL

The reason I am delaying going in is that the lawyer and the policy person I work with are in town and I don't want to see them. They are both annoying for different reasons. The lawyer is dead to me after trying to force me into that whole database analyst thing a few months ago. She tried to talk to me in Boston, but I walked away.
I have to sneak up the steps to legal when she's not around today to get something signed. I might have to send in a sweeper to see if she's around before I go up. LOL

Good morning @VaBelle35, good morning Kitchenettes . . . I am off to go vote as I can't stand another minute of this election cycle so I want to do my part and be done with it . . . ![]()

Wow, that was an eye popping experience . . . there had to be a dozen people at the early voting place . . . used electronic machines for the first time, easy to do and worked well . . . I'm just glad it's done.
I stopped and bought some huge piece of beef on sale so I am going to throw a third of it into the pressure cooker and try and replicate a dish my mom used to make . . . should be an interesting experiment . . . ![]()
