Respect, I saw tomato powder in the Penzy's or Spice House catalog I think. It sounded intriguing.
Is that where you got it? Do you like it & use it a lot?

Morning Ladies!
I'm on my way out the door but just caught a quick glimpse of The Kitchen on the Food Network - Katie Lee made a wet rub using.......turmeric! I didn't get the entire recipe for it-there were other spices and greek yogurt used in the rub and I think she put it on chicken. Will have to google the recipe later today.
Have a great day!

I got it at the Spice House and used 1/2 bottle in a month already! I reordered a second bottle when the Spice House had the last free shipping promo as a back up.
Since I am Italian and make a lot of 'red' dishes....I have used it all the time. I never seem to have a tube/small can of tomato paste...or tiny can of tomato sauce in the pantry when I need it. This powder gives a wonderful tomato flavor to all my concoctions! I have sprinkled a way!!
I used it in my last batch of spag sauce. It helped cut down on the acidity of the other tomato products. I didn't have to add any sugar.
It does have to be refrigerated after opening.

Hi Mustang!
I have never seen that show. That sounds fantastic! Greek yogurt too? I hope someone finds that...it would be fantastic on chicken!
Thank you so much!!
Hey ladies...I spiralized some zucc and this particular recipe called for saffron! Which I didn't have...but now knew a good sub was paprika and turmeric!
Heh. Heh...that turmeric thinks it will win this battle??? I think not! Right, Chili? We will figure out a way to use it up if it takes a year! I just wish I could remember why on earth I ordered it in the first place! It is driving me crazy!

Is this the recipe you ladies are talking about from Katie Lee?
Ingredients
1 cup Greek yogurt
1 teaspoon turmeric
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
Zest and juice of 1 lemon
Directions
Mix the yogurt, turmeric, paprika, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper and lemon zest and juice in a medium bowl until completely combined.
To use, apply the wet rub to chicken and let marinate, refrigerated, at least 30 minutes and up to overnight. Makes enough for 4 to 6 chicken breasts.

LOL Respect! I was just looking for the thread to "bump" it up & there you are! Once again "great minds.....".
Thanks for the info on the tomato powder...its on my "next order" list already - it sounded so good & handy. I too throw tomato paste in many things so its nice to have on hand. I've had the "leftovers" get moldy in the fridge so I learned to freeze the rest. This last time I just plopped a tablespoon or so on different spots on clear wrap, left it freeze & threw it in a zip-lock - that way I can grab a little or a lot.
I understand it comes in tubes now - I wonder if it has more preservatives so you can keep it in the fridge for awhile. Mmmmmm...

Hi momtochloe...you ""snuck"" in while I was typing. I missed it so thanks for the rub recipe.
Have a GREAT day!

Oh no worries at all ChiliPepper, I was intrigued when I rejoined the thread. I am always looking for different chicken recipes and this looks great (plus I am always looking for different uses for turmeric).
I hope the Spice House has a special soon. I have a list of spices I would like to replace plus I am all in on the tomato powder . . . thank you for your kind words and I hope you have a great day as well!

I can't imagine why you bought it either Respect! Little temporary brain fade goin' on there my Friend hehehe??? I tasted mine & it tastes like dirt or something (LOL) so go figure.
I made salad dressing with it a ways back & didn't really care for it but that could have been anything. It had lots of different spices & was just gritty/grainy. Maybe its better after ""resting"" a while.
The search is on!
The rub sounds good. I think I heard or read somewhere that yogurt helps tenderize meat but I don't know that for a fact. I haven't had time to research it.
