No problemo, I see you one new pan and raise you Two count them Two unopened jars of Penzy's Sunny Paris . . .
This is in addition to my already one . . . oy!
Hehehehehehehe..............
We're all going to h e l l in a hand basket!
Oh no, no, no
As my mom would say "we are going to the poor house"
Oh yes and in my case it will be in a spice basket cart as I just ordered spices from My Spice Sage as they have their Mother's Day sale (and I would highly recommend Googling coupons if you know what I mean).
I can't wait to get my espresso powder and of course my beloved Garlic Powder!
What do you use the espresso powder for since you typically don't bake?
I have only used mine in chocolate cakes.....

That was me that asked about going up the Arch.
Now that I have seen that pod...I can cross that adventure OFF my bucket list!!
LOL
The only experience I had going 'up' was in the gondola (sp?) going up @Honeybit 's Stone Mountain in GA when I was a kid.
Someone accidently shut off the power mid way. The forward motion caused that thing to swing back and forth several times throwing us all to the floor....sliding back and forth....back and forth....
By time they restarted the thing...it was one frantic crying bunch of ppl! I remember a guy from VT in uniform...crying..."I survived 3 yrs. in Nam and now I am going to die in this thing???" Sadly ....once it started again...it continued UP! Now we are all at the top of the mountain trying to figure out how to get back down without going in the gondola!!
Needless to say...I don't go up very often!

@VaBelle35 wrote:Turnips are more toward the raddish side of the house, they have a bit of a spicy/bitter bite to them.
I normally just use turnips cubed up in SOUP, then they just end up tasting like SOUP like everything else.
I have made them like potatoes though, boiled & mashed with butter, salt & pepper.
They are good unless you get one of those big, old honkers - they usually end up bitter.
Hey, just like a man huh??? LOL!!!
Major LOL...good one!
Thanks...I don't particular embrace radishes (tee hee, very PC description for BLECH)
I think I will pass on the turnip...but definitely going to try parsnips!
I am pretty sure I have seen them at Wegman's.

Can you help me out w/ the Canyon Ranch Pot Roast recipe? I must have missed it!
I searched through all my computer files and can't seem to find one w/ that title.
I love me a pot roast!
@RespectLife absolutely, here you go:

Thanks! I must have missed that one.
Very interesting! Making a veggie sauce?!!
What does a parsnip taste like?
To me, they taste like a cross between a potato, a carrot & a sweet potato.
Like those 3 vegies been doin' the nasty LOL!!!
Really? I like all three of those! Now this sounds like something I would like!
Now, you guys ain't joshing me are ya?
They don't taste like avocados, do they?
I don't know why I thought they were oniony. Is that turnips?
Dear Kitchenettes,
I have found that parsnips taste like a sweeter version of a carrot. I really like that sweeter flavor in a savory beef stew. It is a perfect balance.
I try to get smaller parsnips whenever possible because they get "woodier" the larger the parsnip.
If you have ever had Duchess Potatoes (mashed potatoes baked in a dish with any or all of the following sprinkled on top: ground nuts, breadcrumbs, parmesan cheese, butter), you could subsitute some parsnips for some of the potatoes in the mashed potato mixture. I have also done a mix with carrots, parsips, and rutabagas instead of potatoes (to cut down on the carbs).
If you are trying to do a lower glycemic thing, I have found that parsnips impact my blood sugar more than carrots do. That may just be me, though.

I agree @Writer with Flair they are good especially roasted. I hope I can find one to pop into that beef dish tomorrow!

Respect,
Here is the recipe that Mama Carol posted, stating it was Lisa Robertson's recipe. I don't know that I ever saw it posted by her not-for sure I didn't copy it from anything she posted, but Mama Carol is another of those that long ago posted quite often. I have made this recipe several times and always get great reviews!
Lisa Robertson's Banana Bread Recipe
Sep 8, 2008 5:51 PM POSTED BY MAMACAROL
1/2 cup butter-room temp
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 cup aged bananas-mashed
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 cup sour cream
2 cups flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
Topping:
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
Grease 2 small loaf pans. Preheat 350 degrees. Beat all ingredients in large bowl on low speed until moisten. Then increase speed to medium and beat until smooth. Set aside.
In small bowl mix topping ingredients together. Pour topping ingredients in bottom of prepared pans dividing equally between pans. Pour bread mixture on top dividing evenly between 2 pans and covering the topping completely. Bake for 45 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center of bread comes out clean. Place plate on top of loaf pan and flip over so that the topping is on top for serving. Cool completely before slicing.

Oh @mustang66lady this brings back memories . . . I remember when this first aired on QVC during the Christmas holidays. My mom wanted the recipe but was more upset that they were making fun of Lisa and her baking to the point I had to send her a message of support from my mom. We received the loveliest reply back and I have been a fan ever since (not sure if we ever made the bread though) . . . ![]()
