Can I substitute crisco for butter or unsalted butter when baking??

I didn't know anyone used Crisco anymore.

A zillion people still use Crisco.

 

But to answer the OP, you probably could substitute it for butter, but it's not going to taste as good. Plus it will be a tad more greasy.

I use it for piecrust as that's what I have always used.

Thank goodness this isn't one of the threads talking about crisco being a great beauty product!  They were all over this board for awhile. (yuk!!)

That's all we could afford when I was young but I wouldn't dream of using crisco now.  Even margarine would be better than crisco as a butter sub.  But I'd go with butter.

I use crisco sticks (butter flavor). They come in one cup sizes. Its a pack of three. My cookies always turn out perfect, and taste yummy too. Hope this helps.
