I discovered an extra bottle of Costco vanilla in the pantry and was planning on gifting it to a friend. Maybe not.

Been making my own pure vanilla for a long time. Just went online (Amazon) and you can presentlybuy 10 Madagascar Grade A beans for $29. You can find "recipes" online that show how many beans in how much liquor is a good ratio. That's pretty expensive for 10 beans but I'm willing to bet those 10 beans would make a good "fifth" of vanilla - while expensive that's still so much cheaper than the cost someone posted about seeing it for $17 for 16 oz.

No more baking than I do, artificially flavored vanilla will suffice.

I would not ever use up 16oz of vanilla before it goes past the expiration date. I simply would never even consider buying that. 2 cups of vanilla! Whew. That's like what we used to have at my family's bakery.
